Corey Norman

My point is, that Darius was rubbish, but the coaches saw more in him then the forum, and now he's the superstar they said he'd be.

Darius was terrible. Always out of position. Always always SuRRENDDAAHHHH tackles. Argh. He was dropped for Michaels ffs.

When was he dropped?
2006. For Steve Michaels.
Then Steve Michaels did his knee injury & Darius came back.

It happened a little differently.

Both started the year in that game we were flogged.

Michaels was then relegated to the bench for Tupou and that's when he broke his leg.

Boyd played on shifting to fullback when Hunt got injured until Hodges was moved there for that game against Melbourne where Tupou got injured. Steve Michaels then returned and both played in that game against the Dogs. And then Hunt came in for Boyd against Parramatta before Boyd came in for Michaels and they never looked back.

Michaels was a good 'un until Vangana f**ked him up.

I can see potential in Norman but he is still very young, his performances for the Broncos so far haven't been anything special but he could become a pretty decent player in time though IMO

Remember Darius Boyd? When he came into grade he was attrocious, yet all the coaches & senior players were saying how wonderful he is and blah blah blah. Same thing is happening with Corey Norman, the coaches and everyone is saying how wonderful he is, but we're only catching glimpses of it on the field atm.

Give him some time, he's hardly out of nappies ffs.

This. I used to hate the way Boyd would crab across field, surrender in tackles and generally refuse to take the line on in any meaningful way.

Norman is a lot the same, but instead of crabbing he butterflies. Butterflies you ask? It's when he gets the ball and does a dainty little dance, like a butterfly. I see it all the time. He gets the ball, has NFI what the play is and does a dainty little hop, as if he is somehow going to do float through the defence like a butterfly. I think he has promise though, and just needs to become more familiar with the plays and how to use his outside men better.

That kick he put in for Yow Yeh late in the game showed he has some good vision though. If he can use and trust those instincts more and become comfortable with distributing the ball with his hands I think he has promise. I'm not sure if that's as a Lockyer type fullback or fully-fledged five eight, but he has promise.

Which, by the way, is more than you can say about Macca. You get a real dummy half providing real service and Norman might just be able to do a bit more.

So what you want is for him to sting like a bee?

Very good point.

Really rate Norman, despite calls of Hunt being a long term halfback I can see Norman being a better one.

Looooong way to go but definitely needs more time in the NRL. I'd like to see him play as much as he can this sem if we are going to use him next year at 6.

Norman, talented though he may be, simply looks too fragile at the moment. He needs to seriously toughen up. He looks uncomfortable in the top grade, especially in defence.

Maybe some games at prop? [icon_evillaugh

Baptiste on the other hand, looked very comfortable in the top side, as well as confident. I like that. Prefer him to Norman in the halves. Wallace to 9.

I am now open for flames [icon_lol1.

I'm generally in the same camp as you, and despite the fact that I agree that Wallace could make a splendid hooker, I fail to see how Baptiste could fill the halves void, especially after Locky goes...

If Baptiste keeps the promise he showed, our focus should turn to the 5/8 position imo.

I'm realistic enough I guess [icon_lol1. to accept that we will need an experienced half/five eighth when Locky retires, & Wallace would seem to be it.

I still think Wallace should be much more involved in creative play making at half.

I would dearly love Norman to gain in confidence and feel comfortable and fill 5/8 next year. I reckon he's still trying to live up to everyone's expectations based on THAT game last year then goes into his shell when he isn't Locky. And his defence is a bit suss. I live in hope. Norman could be a truly fine 5/8.

Are you blokes watching the same games that I am? And are you on crack suggesting Baptiste, after 2 solid performances as replacement HOOKER is a long term 5/8 option?

Against Melbourne Norman had a decent game, but IMO he is not a long term option and has a poor attitidue (i.e. confidence player..)

1 person suggested baptiste be in the halves.
Also why does being a confidence player mean Norman has an attitude problem?

Yes.

Now pass the crack.
