Not really no. I think at the start of the year he ran 90% of the time then thought about passing but Hook has got giving some early ball now. The problem he is having is learning when to do what instead of premeditating things and knowing when to take the ball to the line instead of just passing or running.
It will come for him with time. Maybe first grade is not the place to be learning these things but we don't have a standout alternative.
Also he needs to toughen up, he is good for a mistake when the D rushes up and the opposition all know it now.
He's playing the same as he has at the start of the season, but now the opposition has finally learned that he's just going to run it 99% of the time, and they've shut down the most effective part of his game.
Give him time.It would've been better had he had someone of Lockyer's caliber to play along side to wean him into the role rather than Wallace.Wallace was lucky he had Lockyer to teach him the ropes.
The best I've seen from Norman is a couple of cross field kicks that struck gold and the ability to act like a prop 99% of the time when in possession.
With an attacking game strategy that is essentially so flat, Norman has little time and space to do very much, and what he does most is run out of room/ideas and so he takes on the line as he thinks he has no other option, which he hasn't because I reckon our support play generally sucks.
Occasionally, some structured attack actually emerges and then Norman executes the key pass very well. But it's all too ad hoc.
Aside from which, Hook won't move him this far into the season.
The same applies to Wallace. Against very fast defensive line speed, the flat attack, one-out plan has no chance.
Tonight was a difficult night for attack. All the set plays and structured attack we've got goes out the window when there are seven rookies in the side. Norman is and will be a valuable part of our team, but he's not yet the kind of player that can grab an unfamiliar team and do magic with them.
Nup, he's a marshmallow. He disappears in every game where it's tight, and only produces something when it's been busted open. I predict he'll be a nuffy going from club to club in 3 years.
