If Campbell Gillard winning the award after seven starts off the bench has taught us anything, then yes.

This really should be a no-brainer for the panel, Smith was by far and away the best player to make a name for himself off the bench.

Best Centre: Mitchell?

I had a tough time as well. His closest competition are rookies like Xerri or Staggs or solid club guys like Croker, Hopoate and Morris. I'm sure there's an argument for Hopoate and Morris but it would feel like I'd be ignoring the elephant in the room.

Think you've overlooked Manu, he had a ripper of a season

I actually would say Molo has been as good as Smith from the bench. He has been excellent for a pretty ordinary cowboys.

ROTY should be Haas but we all know it will be fucking Sivo.

Manu would be his closest competition, but he carries that Ringo Starr 'he isn't even the best drummer in the band' stigma. Manu lives in Mitchell's shadow.

There's an argument to be made about this season, but just on my impression, I feel Latrell was the better player.

I've actually been slightly disappointed in Manu this season. I didn't think he improved all that much on last season and in some facts actually went backwards. The one stat has improved is his metres gain according to his NRL profile, but I feel his stints at fullback were responsible for it.

He would be a nominee, but I'd have Brandon Smith as one of the top players in the game, whereas Molo is one of those players I'd have in the improved category.

Manu is in that unfortunate position of while being probably in the top 3 centres in the NRL, is sharing a club with the (far more popular) number 1 centre. Well, I say unfortunate, but going on to probably win 2 premierships in 2 years is actually pretty fortunate.

Edrick Lee nominated for Winger of the Year over Maika Sivo.

You can't tell me these awards aren't a complete joke.

How does the leagues top try scorer, in his rookie year no less, not get a nomination for winger of the year ... especially given that wingers get paid to put the ball over the line. Sivo did his job better than any other winger ...

He got Mitchell'd or in this case Ferguson'd.

The panel decided that Ferguson was the better winger and since that had already been decided, Sivo's spot was given to another contender.

I must say, I had Brandon Smith down as a sure thing, but I could understand giving the award to Fainu. Fainu has a better highlights package and he was an integral part of Manly's unlikely semi final finish. I feel Smith was more consistent through out but I couldn't begrudge somebody else feeling different.

The most laughable one on this list for me is Esan Marsters in the Centre of the Year nominees, like seriously, do these people watch Rugby League? Because I do, I kept a very close eye on him for SC purposes, he was absolutely putrid this year comparatively to last year, I could name 10 players who deserved that nomination more.

They left out Josh Morris for him.. Tell me that's not corrupt when you compare the numbers..

Morris - 23 games, 15 tries, 12 line-breaks, 4 try assists, 101 running metres, 87% tackle efficiency

Marsters - 24 games, 9 tries, 6 line-breaks, 3 try assists, 113 running metres, 81% tackle efficiency
