PLAYER Darius Boyd Discussion

This will be Boyd's last game in first grade

I wish I shared your optimism.

Problem is every week as the knives get sharper another excuse will come out as to why he hasn’t been dropped already.

First it was we can’t drop our captain...

Then it’s we can’t treat a club legend like this....

Then it was we have no one better to take his spot...

Then after Milford takes his spot we still find a way to accommodate Boyd by saying we need his experience.

Now that Milford is injured it’ll be back to we have no one else to play fullback again and we are going to have a second string side to play Cronulla so we need Boyd in there.

It’s like a running joke that doesn’t have an ending. Everything keeps conspiring to try and keep Boyd in first grade. Our opposition fans are praying for it.

One thing is for certain now though, all this bullshit that Seibold spewed about Boyd is playing well, everyone is being too hard on Darius and how he is meeting his ‘markers’ in game was a complete cop out. If he was doing all that to the coaches satisfaction why did Seibold have to resort to moving our 5/8, who we have invested 5 seasons into becoming one, back to a position he hasn’t played or trained for since 2014?

Maybe his ‘markers’ only consisted of whether our fullback was catching all the bombs opposition teams were putting up.

Heard on fox Seibs was for dropping Boyd 2 weeks ago but the club wouldn't allow it. Fucking politics. So the swap in position was the next option and it was diabolical. I don't know why the club would want him out there at all. But the board should stay the **** away from those decisions.

Boyd should be gone and he should be man enough to know it himself. But his ego is obviously through the roof. I am sure he is toxic to the team mentally.

I remember a season In my youth when our coaches son was literally the worst player but was made half and captain. The whole side was angry, talked shit constantly about him. Had to do everything to move the ball away from him. The next year both gone the same team won a GF. Things like this eat away at teams. You can become us vs them in your own team.

The big sign is nobody coming in to support Darius except a young country lad. No body believes in Darius at this point. I think that they may of about a month ago but its all gone now. These last few games are just to unrecoverable in regards to respect.

The team is done with him and even from the presser i feel Seibs is done as he mentioned Dreadens return. I think he will go with Sos at 5/8 and Dreaded at 7. Both Macca and Boyd I think are holding on by internal politics of the club.

The board or White needs a rocket up them and Seibs needs to be allowed to pick his side.

I read somewhere that Seibold tried dropping Darius weeks ago but was blocked by management , hence he was then moved to 5/8. Anyone hear anything on this ? Would be terrible news if this was the case , the coach not allowed to make decisions . Could be a rumour

Management need to **** off if this is true. Don't hire a new coach and then tell him you cant drop the worst player in the team. Why because he is the captain, he may have a C next to his name but he aint a captain. Or is it the million bucks you have invested in him.

This is why this is not Seibs fault. He has money spent on useless fucking ****'s like Macca and Boyd that are in two of the most pivotal roles in the modern game and the club is shackling his decisions.

The Broncos top office need a hard look at.

I can't remember where I read it but Seibold had 4 players he had in mind of getting rid of before taking on the Broncos coaching job and one of them was Boyd.

IF true, that's rocket fuel. No wonder the team is playing disinterested.

Boyds property developments are probably hedged on his contracts until he retires, hence not budging.

The moment the front office starts getting involved in the team, it's all over.

Completely agree with this. If this is occurring, it is just undermining Seibold.
I don't know whether to believe it or not but if it's true it's shocking stuff. Paul White and the board are not paid for their football knowledge so they should not interfere with team selections. How can we have enough faith to sign a guy for 5 years on big money but not trust him to make the right calls on the team?

Did they force him to put Macca back in the team too? Are they blocking him from picking Segeyaro again? It's rubbish.

I don't agree with Seibold's results this year so far but if he can't even pick the team he wants then I'm blaming the board for the results rather than the coach. We signed him long term, we have to respect his decisions with regards to the team.

We've had a shit year but for the most part I strongly agree with every player decision Seibold has made so far and I think it sets us up well long term (IF) when we have a much better team composition next year and 2021. The only thing we've yet to see is who he wants to sign to replace all the lost players but I wouldn't have kept any player that was moved along, that's for sure. I'm just hoping Boyd/Macca are the next moved along then we can truly start with a new team that isn't anchored down by slow, broken, low IQ numpty footy players.

Once again totally on board with all of this and I wish I could like it more than once. The only player let go that I might have a question mark over is Sua.

Reading the Play is a muppet. His stuff is more hit than miss.

BUT, if this is true, it's diabolical.

The board probably would have let Bellamy make these moves (which he would have done) if he was here. They're showing no respect to Seibold.

Maybe when Tallis went on that ‘player manager Isaac Moses runs the club’ rant earlier this year he might have been on the money.

I was all for signing Seibold after Wayne was let go because he seemed to have a lot of football intellect in his interviews during his Souths reign, used a lot of modern day tactics in Souths attack as well as being able to differentiate that certain players needed tweaking in their training and preparation to get the best out of them which was no more evident than the form of the Burgess boys last year. Whereas Wayne has always been an effort coach and his strengths were getting players to play for him and win on attitude. But to take the next step we needed more than just attitude and effort, we needed to start to get with the times tactically and football IQ wise.

I don’t like to jump the gun and believe everything the media says, especially when you see the wide gap in reporting about certain player salaries but I have found it hard to fathom how a coach with the football intellect of Seibold has made some super questionable team selections especially those of Boyd and McCullough. Definitely screams of politics and where there is smoke there is fire.

I find him to be a lot more on the money than other “experts” but you’re right - I hope he’s wrong here otherwise our club is all kinds of wrong at the moment.

The rumour from that source is Boyd, Bird, Milford and McGuire.

Darious Boyd, the supposed captain of our beloved Brisbane Broncos continues to be underwhelming in his performances with little to no positive involvement. I can’t help but feel the coaching staff have stuck him in the 6 to try and minimise the burden of his lack of performance on the rest of the team. From a players point of view I would feel pretty displeased given his form and lack of effort this season, when it is clearly hurting the team week to week. This begs the question is there a deeper cultural issue within the team trickling down from the captain? I understand he is a senior player in the group and one of the highest paid but at some point we need to ask ourselves when is enough enough? Seibold needs to bite the bullet, drop Boyd and move on. Wear some hurt salary cap wise and give someone else a chance, any option would be better then the current. Thoughts?
