Former Australian captain and premiership-winning Queensland icon Darren Lockyer will be inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame tomorrow night at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne.

Lockyer will be inducted alongside some of the biggest names in Australian sport including Gai Waterhouse and Harry Kewell.
The late great Richie Benaud will be inducted as the 40th ‘legend’ in the Hall of Fame.
“Rugby League must be one of the toughest sports going, and Darren’s durability, consistency, leadership and try scoring ability were amazing,” Hall of Fame selection committee chairman Rob de Castella AO MBE said.

“His record speaks volumes and it is wonderful to formally recognise him with this induction.”
The Sport Australia Hall of Fame recognises Lockyer as the 24th rugby league legend to be inducted.
“Toasted as one of the finest, toughest and fairest players in the history of the game, Lockyer becomes a Sport Australia Hall of Fame member just seven years after his retirement, an honour he receives with respect and humility,” the website reads.

He joins some of rugby league’s greatest ever players such as Wally Lewis, Dally Messenger, Clive Churchill and Norm Provan.

Congrats to Darren some serious names in there.

Would be interested to see the other 23 rugby league players in there and whether drugged up Joey is in there.

Unlikely. The Syndey NRL cartel won’t have any say in this...
