David Fifita QRL Highlights

The #6 in that last clip looked about 14 and 50kg soaking wet

This kid is the one that should have the Haas contract.

In these snippets he actually looks like a young Latrell Mitchell coming through. I don’t think he looks out of place at 3 or 4. Too bad we have Bird, hopefully his wings haven’t been clipped this year.

He has a lot of toe why not give him a run at centre.

No no no... in fact **** no!!!

He's beasting as a line running, tackle breaking edge second rower... because he can get on the outside or the inside of his man makes him an absolute weapon in the second row.

Do you think if Falou could tackle they wouldn't play him at second row.

He'll step around his opposing second rower, run through the opposing half and over the top of any centre foolish enough to try and tackle him. You don't push a guy that has those skills further out as part of backline movement. Hell Kerrod Holland scores tries on the back of backline movements, whereas guys like Fifita and TPJ create their own tries from nothing.

Also noting he has to play both sides of the ball. Having him out in centre then has him marking up against 100kg centers that run like wingers... sure once he gets a hold of them he'll hurt them but if they're in space 1-on-1 with a halfback covering on his inside you're asking a lot of a guy that's not played the position.

He's beasting guys at the position he's been playing his whole life at every level he's played suggesting he should be moved is ridiculous.

Exactly the kind of player that makes something from nothing a player you want on the field as much as possible. Sua and Gillett have the second row starting spots and can both play 80 and with Glenn on the bench where does Fifita get his time on the field. Roberts is locked in for 1 centre but the other is wide open.

Probably one of my highlights of the year, his first ISC try in game two. The play before Souths weren't going too far and they had the scrum, Dennis was organising Fifita and I thought he was standing him out of the scrum so he could take the second hit up. They just went straight to him and he monstered through.

I was standing at the opposite end to his try and from behind it was unreal. You can see Bennett in the video too when he puts the ball down.

He's interesting in MM earlier in the year I thought he was lazy and not really applying himself against Penrith he made some really sloppy plays but he is a great advertisement for the promotion having to come before the performance sometimes. Around men he just found his way.

He was saying in 18's camp he was going to repeat Grade 12 this year, he could have achieved all that with school too. Hell of a year.

He looks good but people have got to remember the defence at NRL is at a whole other level. There were some pretty small bodies he was treated like rag dolls in those clips. He's got some good skills and it will see him have a long NRL career but against the like of the Burgess boys, Cordner, or a Graham, he's got to go to the next level.
The thing now is to continue to develop his skills and lengthen his effective time on the field, cutting out some mistakes he made this year as a result of tiredness or inexperience.
We just need to be patient and let him develop.

All of this is of course true but the kid is 18 and playing in the forwards while not looking out of place and scoring THAT try, he’s got a massive future.

Exactly the difference here is that not only has Fifita played NRL, he's starred in the NRL competition. Ordinarily these clips are a dime a dozen, but with Fifita it gives you a good insight into what he's capable of and the player he could grow into.
