Looks like a bit of fun times ahead for the Eels:

THEY sacrificed their bodies for a total of 459 games to build a blue-and-gold dynasty. Now Eels greats Ray Price, Eric Grothe and Terry Leabeater have re-united to tear one down.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that former front-row bookend Leabeater has joined the ticket that aims to overthrow the Parramatta football club board and veteran CEO Denis Fitzgerald

Not sure that they are going to be any better than Fitzgerald TBH.

Ray Price is a grade A arsebandit, so he'll be no better than Fitzgerald, that's for sure. But, it's about type Denis the Menace got marched.

I shall say no more [icon_razz1

COuld you imagine all the dumb headlines Ray Price will be coming up with...not that he doesn't come up with plenty already...but argh....

Why is it that to be an NRL CEO the main criteria seems you need to be a TOOL.

Because for most of these amateurish Sydney clubs a prerequisite is you have to have played for the club. And given football players are almost without exception absolutely retarded...you get the Fitzgerald effect.

[eusa_doh that's nuts.

Despite what we all thought this year this club is yet to hit rock bottom, expect them to take a good dive toward the spoon next year... then maybe just maybe once all the dead wood is cleared they may be right to rebuild for 2010.

I think it'll be a long year for the Eels fans.

I dont expect them to make the 8 next year. This sort of off field stuff wont help their cause either. They need to rally around each other and become a tighter 'unit' than they are at the moment, otherwise all this bickering and in-fighting amongst the officials and bad form/behaviour of the players wont help the club improve. If anything it will get worse as Assassin said above!

Ray Price is a nutter.
Headstrong neanderthal.
Bring back the chook raffle.

God damnit, if it's not one it's the other.

Why can't we see COMPETENT business people with a love for the game and real flair when it comes to profitability and sustainability at the helm of each club? It seems we either get egomaniacs with NFI about football or management, or past-players who would be better off directing the under nines at a country footy club.

People complain about Cullen, but if the possible replacements were anything like the two buffoons standing for the Eels job, he'd be kept in the gig by a landslide!

And they wonder why they're running at a loss each year... would you seriously put that bloke as CEO of any other company in the country ... i think not! (perhaps ACME debt collections pty ltd but thats it). Just cause its a football club doesn't mean the CEO needs to be player, its the 21st century people lets get the clubs professional, otherwise nothing will improve.

And I'll be fair, not all ex-footballers who are businessmen are bad. Look at the outstanding work the likes of the late Paul Morgan and John Ribot did for the Broncos. The thing is they didn't run the club as a football club, they ran it as a business.

These Sydney imbeciles don't get it.

Exactly Coxy - Morgan, Ribot, Balkin, Maranta and Williams were all sucessful businessmen in other areas before owning/running the Broncos. Instead of bitching about the Broncos being so successful for the past 20+ years, the Sydney clubs should have taken a leaf out of their book and moved into this century and seen their club as a business and run it accordingly. They would have either flourished or died off naturally by now and the game overall would be in a much better place.

Compared to Fitzgerald he is; compared to Ribot - not so much

Chris Johns is an ex-player turned great business man, would love to see him get back involved in the game more very smart and a very good bloke.
