FOOTBALL English Premier League 23/24 Discussion

I don't really get the vitriol towards Ineos/Jim. They are not the decision makers.

Glazers still run the show and now they've got a scapegoat who everyone is happy to go after instead.
Glazers got exactly what they wanted, an English scapegoat.

SJR/Ineos let it happen, thats the issue. If he was as big a fan as he says he was (odd considering Chelsea season ticket and attempt to buy them first), he would not have gave the Glazers a way to continue.

Glazers were never going to sell and won't sell for some time.

Not with the land they own in a rejuvenation area and the new stadium in the works. They stand to make more money and the value of Manchester United will just increase.

Well Santa I think that could be us out of the title challenge mate. Kai out for the remainder of the season. Martinelli a few weeks away. A front line of Trossard, Sterling and Nwaneri. I just can't see it for the run in. Arteta is going to have to think very creatively to manage this squad. We surely now have to change formation to last out the season without killing our remaining players.

Title race was over when Arsenal didn't sign an established striker in the January window. Though I think it was probably over before then.

They desperately need a striker. I don't think Havertz is winning you a title, and they have the funds to sign one but they didn't. They bid for Watson, it got rejected and it's like they just gave up trying to sign a striker. There were several available that would have been an upgrade on Havertz.

It baffles me why they didn't go hard for one. Another winger would have been handy too.

I agree with all of that mate and believe me when I say your points are the basis for my comment. As fans we are just sitting here with everything crossed hoping against hope until it truly is hopeless (well that's how I work at least lol).

We have been crying out for attacking players the previous two windows but I do wonder. With the club "stable" I think the owners are not so quick to spend their money now. I feel like they are more about positioning and if success happens to come with that then hey! That's more money for us and the fans are happy but realistically I think the owners are happy where the club is positioned. Otherwise surely our business would have been very different. Arteta has not shied away from saying how shallow the squad is.

There’s talk that Chido Obi, the young striker we signed from Arsenal, could be promoted to the first team and be getting game time.

He’s been absolutely killing it in the youth team and has apparently been knocking at the door for promotion, though he’s only 17.

Not sure bringing him into the side now would be a wise call. The strikers don’t get any service and if he goes a few games without scoring because we don’t give our strikers service then the fan base will turn on him and start calling him shit and a flop.

We’ll see what happens but if he does get promoted and he gets game time, hopefully he does well.

Plenty of players have played PL at that age though they did have leaders and highly experienced players around them.

He’s a generational talent by all reports so hope he does well.

Personally I would probably loan him out to a championship team like we did with Amad. Less pressure to develop.

Chelsea fans were gloating when they first got Sancho and he was putting in some good performances.

They're not anymore. The honeymoon period is over and Sancho is back to being shit and now they're desperate to give him back to us but Chelsea have an obligation to buy lol.

Look at Brighton's third goal, look at that piss weak effort from him. Enjoy that Chelsea, we had to suffer having him in the side and now you can.

Finally media is starting to catch up, Welbeck would be better than any of our other striker options. Said it pages and pages ago in here.

Even watching him this morning, he moves better and his hold up is better.

That said, as a new signing at 35, it's not a signing I'd expect many to get behind. But if, and it's a big if, you can get him on a free for okay wages, he improves the squad instantly.

People would complain about it not being an exciting signing, or not a united signing, but I'm more worried about winning games. You don't want that as your only signing, obviously, but he could give you a season or 2 as a recognised PL goal scorer, and improve the squad 🤷‍♂️

Anyone else see Durans highlights in Saudi the other day? What a shame he went there. Great talent.

If he actually sees out his contract years, he will score an incredible amount of goals in that league.

Mainoo, Ugarte and Collyer apparently out or in doubt for Spurs 😂

I know Spurs are somehow doing even worse than us, but a likely midfield of Bruno and Casemiro is going to be torn to fucking shreds.

Least we might get to see Eriksen play as a 10.

I'm hoping that's just Amorim resting them and prioritizing the cups. We can't afford injuries.

Amad Diallo out for the season.

Unreal decision from the club to not get the attacking players we could have got in the January window.

Any chance of winning the FA Cup or Europa, gone. Weren't great to begin with but when you lose your best player, definitely gone now.

The 3 clubs that fucked up in the January window are now paying for it. Arsenal, Chelsea and us.

Cant sign players if you dont have the financial capability to do so.

Premier league could be in huge trouble now Man City have had that big win in the courts over them. Clubs that had similar deals to City ready to go are now considering suing the Premier League.
