FOOTBALL English Premier League 25/26 Discussion

Citeh are reminding me of Arsenal in the last couple of years under Wenger. Capable of beating anyone, but they seem to collapse easily as well. No steel to the team.

They're a painful watch when they just aimlessly keep the ball, recycle, keep the ball and do nothing with it.

Im sure the media will keep hammering United though and just ignore Pep/City in 12th. Sky hasn't stopped all weekend.

United will always been a bigger target tbf, even with Man City's success. It comes with them being the biggest club not only in England but one of the biggest in world football.

I'm more concerned about Wolves. Something bad is going on at our club. Players look unhappy, ones who were awesome last season dont look bothered and our signings have been left too late and not really of good enough quality. I personally think we will finish bottom. When you dont score enough and leak goals for fun, its a recipe for disaster. If i was Pereira i'd walk from the job. Fosun have let the bloke down.

My only hope is we have suddenly started getting some tenuous links in our local media with the Qatari's who tried to get United buying us.

Liverpool dropping this kinda coin on deadline day, I just can't see them being beaten for the title this season.

The game this morning bored the living shit out of me but the FK was a stunner.

Laughed when Rice/Arsenal hoofed the kickoff straight out, ripped that straight from PSG playbook. Gross viewing.

Some thoughts from the game:

First half was straight trash from both teams. Neither attack was clicking and it was ugly AF to watch. Was seriously considering my life choices and whether I should just go back to bed.
We probably should've at least worked Raya when he graciously gave us ball but VVD passed instead of wellying it.
Wirtz, Macca and Salah all looked dreadful in the first half. Wirtz in particular couldn't give the ball away quick enough.

Second half I thought we were a little bit better, Jones coming on helped a fair bit and we managed to recycle possession a bit better.
Wirtz looked a little more lively after the break, still not enough to crow about but starting to show something. Could've had an assist if Salah was on form.
Salah I thought was pretty woeful all game. Would go as far to say he's looked a tiny bit off the pace since the season began. Is this the year?
Dom has risen to the challenge of Wirtz arriving. His engine is unreal.
Arsenal and Arteta aren't serious. I get Anfield is a **** of a place to come to but it was one of the most limpdicked performances by a side that's just dropped 250 and wants to be considered a serious challenger. Arteta wanted to pack it and walk away with a point. Would be furious as an Arsenal fan - where's the ambition?
Kerkez finally arrived as the player we saw at Bournemouth.

9 points, 3 wins, none of them convincing and still a way off everyone gelling. Good start to the title defence.

edit: yeah, also the touch finders from kickoff are shithouse. I get there's some data behind it but **** me isnt it a dour start to the game.

Even though I think Liverpool wins the league comfortably, especially adding Isak, its still going to be interesting.

Teams like Villa are all over the place, Wolves trying to stop the 3 that came up being the 3 that go down. Newcastle struggling a bit, City don't look City like at all, Spurs go from beating City to getting battered by Bournemouth, Everton playing okay, West Ham went from god awful to a good win today. Chelsea unbeaten with some favourable VAR but still.

United a source of laughter for other team fans, we just have no idea what we're going to get each week.

Arsenal were dire - pinning all their hope on their corner routines. They also take an eternity every time they get a corner, time-wasting from the get go.

They're very anti-football. It's mad to think this is the same club that played some incredibly beautiful football in the early 2000s, with Wenger at the helm.

Like @Renegade said, there's no ambition from Arteta. I'm glad their negative shit didn't pay off for them.

Senne Lammens, here we go.

I'm glad he was the preferred option over Martinez. He has far more upside. Martinez is still living off his WC glory but he hasn't been as good in the past couple of years and is just as prone to clangers as Onana.

I'm praying we get a midfielder before the end of the deadline, but it's not looking likely.

ETH sacked by Leverkusen. 😂
Nuts. 2 league games, 1 loss 1 draw, and they'd sold most their stars. I struggle to believe this is just form related.

If its not trusting him to spend the funds they have, sure, but why sack him as the window ends lol

I disagree.

Lammens better option long term? Possibly, but I gotta think who is our best option for 2 weeks vs City at the Etihad.

PL proven, WC winning Emi Martinez, a 23 year old making his debut in a new league, Onana the miming clown or Bayindir who can't manage his box at all? There is very minimal chance imo we use Lammens vs Citeh and Chelsea. Which means we are just waiting for errors from probably Bayindir.

I think Emi's errors are widely overstated, and literally nobody can tell me they've actually watched Lammens week in week out to say he doesn't make errors. I guarantee you he has moments in his first games for United, and theres every chance he may never come back from said moments if fans turn on him, and when media turn on him.

Could have got a good couple seasons out of Emi and slowly developed a 2nd GK, or worked on putting experience into Vitek.

Lammens is a huge risk.

Theres every chance we were priced out of a move for Emi on wages or fee, and if so it is what it is, but in a position like GK, I would have preferred experience over youth for our team right now 100%.

I hope he kills it, I just know it can so easily go wrong.

All reports are United are talking to no midfielder currently with only a few hours left in the window. Comical really.

Nuno relieved of his duties at Forest...

Fabrizio saying Ange is one of the top targets.

Nuno deserves better than that idiot owner they have. They would be back in the championship without him, let alone playing in Europe.

Still love Nuno to bits. I think he can be a bit too honest and sticks by his principals a bit too much which has what has probably caused his sacking there.
