FOOTBALL English Premier League 25/26 Discussion

Fabrizio reporting West Ham want 85m for Fernandes. Please walk the **** away United.

Its funny this is the view of some United fans while others are getting upset they won't match or compete with what City are willing to pay for Anderson.

United are definitely struggling for an identity in the transfer market.

Elsewhere Barca have just stated publicly they won't be paying the fee for Rashford (as if we didn't already know anyway). They want another loan.

Speaking of Spanish teams Atleti throwing shade at both Barca and RM on official channels is hillarious. RM dropping an official statement on making a bid that was instantly rejected for Alvarez was funny too.

Have just seen this way too many times before with it not working.

Is Fernandes good? Sure he is, and he's young so could get even better.

But he was just a regular starter in a team that got relegated. Its worth a risk but not at 85m.

We desperately need to spend on the squad, but we need multiple players in multiple positions. Dropping 85m on Fernandes is not it. At least for me.

I dont get how they are talking about Fernandes for that kind of fee when Joao Gomes is available for about half his fee

It's all starting.

Reports coming out that Fletcher is going to get more game time next season, Mount can play midfield. Ederson, Mainoo, Fletcher, Mount, suddenly we've got 4 midfielders and INEOS will be thinking happy days. Forget the fact that Fletcher is a kid and Mount is always injured.

We're not making another midfield signing and another manager is going to get the sack before their contract is up because this management won't back their managers and give them the signings they need.

Assume you don't want Anderson either then.
Have I not said that in here already? He's quality but not at the price if buying him will prevent other purchases.

I think if we're spending that much money for our starting 6, it categorically cannot be a risk.

Don't spend the money, we'll always be behind behind Liverpool, City and Arsenal.

If you want to buy the best players, you pay top price. Arsenal, Liverpool and City are willing to do that, but we aren't and that's why we'll always be behind them.

This is the new reality. The market has changed.

There was a time what we paid for Keane and Rooney was considered outlandish, but we paid the money anyway and it worked out well.

Anderson will be one of the best midfielders in the world. We should have been on that deal the moment the window opened, but we want cheap and wonder why we're sacking another manager and fighting just to finish top 5.

We could have got Olise, as well.

We had him in the bag. We had an agreement with the player, he wanted to join us, we thought the price for him was too much.

What a ****ing brain dead decision that was by the management.

I dug around trying to find some evidence of that as it was news to me and I couldn't (unless it was the season prior to his Bayern move).

Definitely remember Chelsea being interested.

Hopefully we have learnt our lesson from Isak haha. All that glitters is not gold.

Not suggesting no money be spent at all, it's not my money, spend away. I just want them to be smart about it where possible.

If you're dropping 100+ for a player to be the starting 6, to me, you need to at least try getting the players just a little older, experienced, ready to go. If all that's even partially available in that space is Tonali and Tchouameni and neither are gettable, then sure. But I still think Anderson is possibly more of a risk than those 2.

Anderson will be great, but you drop 115m on him, it doesn't really work as we want, and you don't then spend on a LB, backup striker, RB, another CM, LW as a result, couple injuries, increased number of games and just like that we're back out of UCL.

The club's history of player signings recently is diabolical and has caused glaring gaps in the squad.

Anderson is a luxury signing for someone like City because they don't even need him. He can take his time getting into the squad, take over from Rodri slowly, play some games, bench others. For us, we'd need him straight in the starting squad likely twice a week. For a younger player, that's a lot of pressure.

It's just an opinion at the end of the day, who knows what the club will end up doing or not doing. I'm not going to be unhappy if we spent 115m on Anderson, as above, it's not my money and he clearly is a quality player. Just somewhere in the back of my head, I'm thinking in 12mths if he hasn't kicked on, we don't get UCL, there's no money for the inevitable next manager to fix the squad again.

I could listen to Vardy talk football all day

If Amorim does sign with AC Milan should save United about 16m apparently, so that'd be helpful for transfer dealings.

Spurs in now for Tonali. Cant see that happening, but maybe Spurs want to make a statement and actuaslly build something.
