Ennis please dont go.

We don't want bloody Berrigan, he's not smart enough to be a hooker. He's a good impact player off the bench and that's about it. How hard is it to understand that we NEED a specialist hooker, not a stop gap option.

Show some RESPECT to the man that is BERRIGAN... He is a legend in my world lol. I hope we keep Ennis but if we don't I hope we get an adequate replacement for him.. I just can't see how we have no money at all since we have lost Hannant and likely to lose Ennis, Moon and Boyd. There must be something going on behind the scenes that we don't know.

But with the option, both parties have to agree.

No, if Ennis wants to stay he can thats it. The question is does he want to stay on his current pay scale or does he want more.
Clearly the Broncos don't want to pay him more, and Bruno is trying to get him on the cheap.
I would love to see him stay but the club obviously has other ideas.

I really think some of the comment is too simplistic given the complexities of the salary, the club has to think 3 and 4 years down the track before we sign players up on long term deals. 4 years is way too long for Ennis IMO, he has a history of bad injury and we aren't privy to info Bruno may have on say C Smiths intentions or how they rate young players coming through etc.

The only players who get long term deals are the Lockys, Hodges, Hunts etc.

I don't want to go jumping the gun here... but if Ennis can gather some consistency for the rest of the year- you would have to say he is almost as influencial as Smith in hooker.

He has been better so far this year thats for sure, Smith hasn't set the world on fire although the Storms tight in game plan doesn't help anyone of their creative type players to shine to much. Ennis and Buderus have been this years clearly best performed hookers.

Buderus is possibly the 15th best hooker. Maybe I'm exaggerating but Smith is all over him. Also Ennis is a grub, but a good player. Neither compare to Smith though

[icon_lol1. You obviously haven't watched any football THIS YEAR have you? Buderus has been excellent in every match just like Ennis has been quality for us all year. At no point did I say either is better than Smith just saying Smith hasn't been setting the world on fire this year much like most of his side who are grinding out matches. Buderus is the best defensive hooker in the game (what he loses in work-rate to Smith he more than makes up in effectiveness) and has been a great link to the halves in attack this year and also backs up breaks brilliantly.

why cant we pay him the same next year but have it in his contract that he gets a bigger payment in the next few years, like Israels contract.

Ennis is a greedy mofo.
The Broncos deal was resonable from my reports.
He doesn't want to play at the Broncos.

I really rate the guy and he is on fire.
I really do not want him to go. [icon_thumbs_do

He is in form yes but how can anyone rate the guy.......he is a diver and a club whore? Money is obviously by far and away the biggest motivator to his career.

As it is with Hannant, Boyd, Kemp, ... and so many other professional footballers where the GAME is no longer a sport where loyalty to your roots is the key.

Football these days is a job like it or not, and as it is with most careers - you follow the best deal.

It's pretty obvious you hold something against him mate.

What are you basing this 'money motivator' argument on? What you have read in the media? Give us a break.

Besides, if he does accept another offer and it is a fair amount bigger than the one form the Broncos you can't really blame him. If you were doing a job somewhere for say 100K, got offered 175K to do it elsewhere, would you?

I'm guessing the majority of people would especially if they didn't have a family like Ennis.

Bruno must have some sort of plan if he is willing to let Ennis walk away like this.. I would like Ennis to shwo some loyalty but for a 100k extra a year most people can be bought can't they.

Bruno or Henjak better have a plan. I don't want to see Marsh at starting hooker after next year.

He has played for 3 soon to be 4 different clubs for a start. He is also a diver which doesn't endear him to me at all either. Good player, don't want him to go but am not gonna cry about it.

Fair enough then.

It said in todays paper than Ennis will make the announcement tomorrow about his future. Looks like the Dogs beat Parra.

I fear a deal is probably already sorted out, with an announcement put on hold until after today. But as Rocky said though, hopefully it hasn't come to pen being put to paper yet and we may still be in with a little sniff.

The Broncos have first right to make a counter offer until round 13. Even if Ennis "signs" with another club, the contract is not registered till after round 13 so it doesnt matter if he puts pen to paper.

Its squarly up to the club to show some interest, and they still have some time to do that, and if they dont and he takes a good offer elsewhere, then best of luck to him.

Personally i cannot understand why more effort isnt being made for him to be retained.

As I said in another thread, the contracts would be signed & post-dated.

And they just put the signed contracts into the NRL after round 13.

The players that have signed the contracts can still opt not to go ahead with it and stay with the current club until round 13 though
