PLAYER Ezra Mam

Ezra is going to have to toughen up, he's going to cop the Matt Lodge treatment from the fans.

9 weeks seems fair. While his actions were less than Trindall's, the outcome was obviously worse. I was expecting the punishment to be much worse considering the media and social media carry on.

I don't have an issue with a nine week suspension, looking at the incident in isolation.

When you compare it to other similar incidents, it's the consistency from the NRL that is laughable. It's the same with the refereeing. There appears to be no professional process they follow to come to decisions - it's a fucking lucky dip. It reminds me of a South Park episode...

This.

Also, he did this in the off season which is why there's so much noise. Trindall and JAC disappeared so quickly because there was nrl going on.

At this point it has to be a pull your head in or **** off approach surely. Despite his shit driving record (which is similar to alot of people I knew at that age) this is his first off field incident but he has a chance to to buy in to what Madge expects from his players and turn it around. If anything at least the team has learned that the media will latch onto any negative broncos story they can.

Do we reckon the stupid **** will do it again?
If he does it again, tear that fucking contract on the day of incident happening. Absolutely no second thoughts. In hindsight though, with the change of guard from coaching standpoint and the club enforcing “discipline & professionalism’, reckon anyone else would dare to commit the dumb shit again. Internally, DD & MM must have drawn the sand already on these matters.

This probably puts to bed that conspiracy people have that the NRL is out to get us, we all expected half a season, minimum.

I think the disconnect is between what the legal system decided and what he should probably have got done for, it's a fairly common opinion to only get $850 for what he did, that's a joke.
It will do no such thing, unless Mam gets a penalty the same as prior incidents i.e. around 5 weeks

If/when he gets double what other people got for similar offences, it reinforces the inequity, it doesn't put it to bed

He got more because they were different incidents. He crashed into somebody lol I mean that is why there is a difference in suspension.

I don’t think 9 weeks is quite enough tbh I hope the club adds some weeks on top of that.

I don't get this, people keep saying prior incidents.

How many players have lost control of their vehicle, unlicensed, while having cocaine in their system and probably using a mobile phone?

5 weeks? you're having a giggle.

Yep. I reckon he will. Maybe not the drugs, but stupid driving i think so.
Other way around mate. Most definitely drugs but not the driving bit. You would think he would have frightened **** out of himself. Ubers are the go - he has the money.

The decisions by the judge and NRL are things the club can't control and are what they are.

Big question now is how the club handles it moving forward. They're not ripping up his contract and I agree with that.

BUT, I sincerely hope that once his suspension is over he doesn't just walk back into a starting spot, especially now with Hunt here. Make him earn back his starting spot in the lower grades / off the bench and force him to push himself to be better as both a player and a person.

Inequity ?
The other pair didn`t collide with another car while on the wrong side of the road .

Yes they were on drink and or drugs but didn`t cause any harm . There`s your point of difference .

Drunk or on drugs 4 -5 weeks . Crash into another car with drugs in your system add 4 weeks however low the reading was .

Although Trindall just stood down between his charges and court . NRL didn`t add to the penalty . For the fans .

Possibly, but generally bad drivers from my experience never change.

To think the entire saga will be over before Origin 1, I think he got it good all things considered.
