PLAYER Ezra Mam

Yea bringing in US politics into an opinion about a Broncos player is weird.

Mam was a selfish dick for what he did, and I wouldn't have complained if we sacked him (we need less idiots in our team). But we didn't. He's been punished, so we just have to move on. Can't keep punishing him forever.

Hopefully he's learnt from this.
Tds is real. It's not funny.

Well, maybe a little.

What do you mean?
Well we know being unlicenced and having residual drugs in his system didn't cause him to have an accident. So what was the reason? That's presumably what he's being castigated over.

He was swerving to save a family of ducks or a little old lady crossing the road. Maybe we should give him a medal.

So on this subject, would those of you who are tut-tutting about him having a snort of coke during his holidays be in favour of ALL players being tested randomly, but at least once a week, throughout the entire year, holidays especially, with the results being published in the newspapers, and anyone being found with ANY trace suspended from playing for say 10 weeks?

Well what was the reason you're assuming? You're holding court here.

I wasn't assuming any reason. That's why I said how does that even happen? I do know that it is not normal behaviour from someone on the roads though.

I think once a user is on an Australian team forum with their profile pictures set as Trump, weirdness is already well and truly at the door.

There is just something about that overtly proud type - always 'thinking of the victims', but never actually.

I don't think it's weird to call out social oddities. I think it would be weird to sit though a Trump seminar on ethics, or consent, though. Bro is flying around his bumbuddy on AF1 lit on K.

I won't reply to anything else politics related to avoid derailing this thread further, just find it all hilarious.

Could be wrong wasnt this during pre season tho? If so, testing during "work" is pretty accepted across most industries.

If a government employee did the same, even if they weren't in hours, they'd be sacked.

But their footballers. They need to be given much more of a break considering their IQs and how poorly paid they are.....

Technically, Ezra could play Friday week in SHITney for R10 but I reckon it won’t be the case.

After Friday week, we play
R11 Dragqueens at home, and then
R12 bye -1
R13, we play Manly in SHITney &
R14, we play Tits
R15 bye -2.

Between Friday week and our bye 1, we’ve about 3 weeks and during those 3 weeks, Ezra could be asked to get some game time in cup. If he’s top notch fitness wise by then, he could play against Manly if not, most definitely against Tits at home.

Anyhow, I reckon it’s best if he’s not brought in straight away in R10.

Selfish for driving unlicenced?

Not sure that's the right word. Irresponsible. Scofflaw. Sure.

Like I've been saying, in his age group, I think losing your licence for excessive points - which is what he did - is more common than it used to be in our day.

You only get 4 points on your P's. And they have to last you an entire year. Good luck with that.

I lost 4 points a few months ago for speeding in a roadworks zone. I'm not even sure I was, but you don't get to argue about it. Every other time I've driven through there since, doing the exact limit, I've been tooted and given the middle finger by ***** behind me.
Nah it's selfish. Driving unlicensed (just like speeding or driving under the influence, etc) is just putting your own convenience above the safety of others. Sure there are different levels of selfishness. I'm sure he can afford an Uber.

You were going under 40....we had every right to give you shit. 🤬🤬

Just to ensure I don't get mis-understood, I'm not on the anti-Ezra train, I think he behaved stupidly and recklessly, and has received an appropriate punishment.

That said, yes, I am absolutely in favour of random and regular drug testing of all players. I don't think results need to be published in newspapers, and I can see the argument for excluding holidays, so I'm OK either way on that point.

If you are caught with drugs in your system, you have a suspension. Perhaps it's scaled; 4 weeks for first offence, 8 for the second, 12 for the third? You can tiddle with the numbers but that's the idea.

This is a sport where young men are making a boat load of money, and it's apparently widely known that heaps of them enjoy recreational drugs. One option is to ignore the problem, the other is to enforce standards. I'm lost for words that anyone would suggest the former is better than the latter, but I'm 56 and old school, and I think society at large is way too soft on drugs.

And while we are at it, the regular random drug testing should be for performance enhancers as well as illegal recreationals. There is no place for drugs in sport.

Eh I can't get as excited as you guys for his return. By that I mean I don't think he will change us dramatically. That amazing form he had was quite some time and a normal suite ago :kimlo: I doubt he will come back with a bang. I would imagine he will need to acclimatise for a couple of games. As always happy to be proven wrong though.

That's pretty much already the system- first offence, only the doctor and CEO know, and you have to go to counselling, second is 12 match ban- deregistered third.

Players can only be tested in Club environments- preseason, training, games. Not holidays and not days off.

It can be targeted, if they think something is going on they can just turn up.
