Farah open to $500,000 offers

The market value for players are getting ridiculous in comparison to the salary cap. This has always been my belief.

Why would they chase Farah when Smith is unsigned for 2010?

I dunno about that. No doubting Smith is currently the best #9 in the game, but I think he has reached his peak - he isn't going to get any better, which means there is only one way for him to go. Not saying that's going to happen immediately but within 2 years he will be on the downhill slide.

I don't know if I'd call already reached your peak a problem when "your peak" is being captain of your team, state and country.... if he stays at that "peak" and doesn't get any better I can deal with that.

As for going on a downhill slide in 2 years that in the case of a quality player such as cam smith will be more to do with his luck with injury then anything else. I doubt he will just let himself go but the roll of the dice will say he'll pick up some major injuries at some stage, still you cant sit around worrying about that or you wouldn't hire anyone.

Pretty much Assassin. Albeit, Cam Smith plays for the Storm, so let's look past that for a second;

He is 25, he is the next QLD, Australian captain. He would be club captain whoever secures his services. He was Storm Club Player of the year 3 seasons straight, Dally M 06, Golden Boot 07, Ron McAuliffe medallist 2005 series and Wally Lewis medallist 2007 series.

Hardly looks to be going downhill anytime soon and quite simply the best RL hooker in the World.

If I was Cullen and a player of that calibre was still unsigned having expressed interest in returning to a geographical locality of which there is only my team and one other, in a position of which I have 2 "has beens" and 1 rookie with "potential"; I know I'd be making a very, very reasonable offer. It'd be criminally incompetent to not.

So Cameron Smith is going to be going downhill when he is 27? Riiiiiiiiigghhtt.

I wouldn't go that far Jeb. However, I have noticed he has developed a smugness about him (not unlike George Clooney's Oscar speech) it is very similar to the air that Bellamy has about him. Confidence bordering on arrogance not a big fan of it tbh.

Agreed. Cam Smith is solid but he's no Budurus. (spelling?)

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the live wire flashy hookers anyway, just good, clean crisp service is what I like, boring job as it may be (from the hooker's POV), but I prefer the early ball football.
Not that C Smith is of the flashy group anyway.

As much as I dislike Cam Smith, he has to be the most complete and probably the best player in the world.

Defensively, there a few who are better.
In attack, he is the greatest organizer in the world, a good runner, solid off the ground passer and a great kicker.

I'm not a fan of his and his teams tactics, but you can't deny his greatness as a player.

I think that is what is so good about Smith is that he has the balance between your flashy hookers (Farah, Payne and Ennis) and your solid reliable ones (Hughes, Woolford) he will hit a guys chest time after time and will pick his moments to inject his playmaking through running and kicking beautifully. As I said I have noticed he is turning into a bit of a wanker but that can be Bronco'ed out of him, if the price was right I would have him here in a heartbeat.

Smith is the player is he because Bellamy is the coach he is. The beautiful work he does from dummy half owes a lot to the great and rehearsed runs from his hit up merchants.
AS I have said ad nauseam (sp), Melbourne are the best in the business at the ruck.

Great player who follows his coach's instructions very well.

Personally, I believe Bellamy is still the key signing for any team.

I can't beleive a few of you guys here wouldn't hire Smith cause of his "attitude", he's a footy player, he's hired to win footy games, its not like he's out pissing on members of the public or glassing his missus, he's just a bit cocky and hell that may just be part of why he plays so hard. To be honest if cullen didn't make an offer I feel he should seriously have to come up with a dam good reason. I'm not saying getting into a bidding war... but throw a reasonable offer... taking into account you can use Marshs and Gorrels cap space (and thats not entertaining the thought that locky or hunt may also pack bags for 2010).

If you think 5 years into the future you could build the whole team around SMith and Wallace.

Who do the Broncos have to lose to get Smith to Brisbane thought?? I think it is time to rebuild from the juniors for a few years the Broncos do not continue to recruit marquee type players every year.
