TITANS hitman Zeb Taia is set to shadow Ben Hunt throughout tonight’s sudden-death final in a bid to exploit the frailties that were exposed during the Brisbane half’s mid-season slump. Hunt was one of the Broncos’ best in their run to last year’s grand final but has been below par at times this season and the Titans are *determined to do him no favours tonight.
That could start from the opening whistle, with Tyrone Roberts set to reignite Hunt’s worst nightmare with a towering kick-off in the hope of a bumbling grand final *repeat. He dropped the ball off a crucial kick-off in last year’s decider.
While the Titans have denied they’ll deliberately target the No.7, it would be folly not to send the ball his way in his first finals appearance since his infamous extra-time knock-on last season.
“If he’s standing somewhere, I’ll probably find him,’’ Roberts said.
But it’s the 102kg Taia who Hunt will have to worry about most, with the secondrower determined to test Hunt in attack and defence.
Taia has been outstanding in his return from Super League this season and has been an attacking weapon for the Titans, averaging 111m a game and scoring five tries including one against the Broncos in Round 5.
Hunt has been forced to make 20 tackles a game this season and Taia is determined to increase his workload on the right side as he charges towards a player missing an average of 3.6 tackles a match.
“I’ll be doing everything I can to attack his inside shoulders,’’ Taia said.
“But I think the last two or three weeks he’s improved.’’
And Taia will do him no favours in defence either, *cutting down Hunt’s chances to spark the Broncos’ attack with a damaging linebreak.
“People always think it was him who made the mistake (that led to Brisbane’s loss) but it was Corey Oates on the wing who let (Kyle) Feldt in (for the match-levelling try) and everyone’s blaming Hunt,’’ Meyers said.
But former Titans forward and Broncos international Brad Meyers said it would be a mistake to target Hunt.
“You don’t really single out anyone.’’
Titans coach Neil Henry conceded Hunt and halves partner Anthony Milford were the “key’’ to the Broncos. But he said there was no particular focus on a player.
“I think Milford’s been outstanding, he’s a very dangerous runner of the ball, whereas Hunt’s been a little bit quiet but I think he’s got his running game back again,’’ Henry said.
“I think Milford if anyone needs to be shut down but if you take your eyes off Hunt he’ll show and go and go through.’’
And the Titans are not discounting their chances of causing a major upset against the Broncos.
“I think it’s a good opportunity for us,’’ Henry said.
“It’s sudden-death and a big crowd, big occasion … it’s a big stage and it’s do or die.”
Bring it on.

Good lord, if we lose tonight I'll never hear the end of it, heading to my uncles place tomorrow for my in-house tipping comp break up, and he's a Titans supporter.
PLEASE WIN.
Everyone has one bad Uncle.
My youngest daughters teacher is a Titans fan. She told him she is going to the Titans funeral tonight and will wear black to school next week if it makes him feel better but don't expect her to cry because she won't be sorry.
