POST GAME Finals Week 1 - Broncos vs Titans

i didn't watch the post game show either ... I had well and truly had enough of the bias and whinging from the commentators by the end of the match. I had no intention of watching more of it.

in fact if channel 9 bothered to check the ratings i'm sure they would have seen them plummet around the post game show time. but i'm not sure they would be smart enough to figure out why they plummeted and how they could easily rectify the situation.

I love your attitude!

I don't know why but I take the media's comments so personally.

Dude, I used to be exactly the same as you but I eventually realised that you either love the Broncos or hate them, there is no in between and if you aren't a fan of them you fucking hate them. Once I figured that out I just decided to **** the bastards and enjoy the hate.

You are right. Now let's go win the premiership! Just to annoy them even more!

I don't remember Hunt running the ball once except for that grubber when we scored but his defence on Hayne was exceptional. He was caught 1 on 1 a few times and handled it well.

Five pages of commentary and to me no comment of the single most defining moment of the game. WITHOUT QUESTION it is the clean hit that Macca put on Taylor. That was the game changer.

Also special props to Kahu. An absolute unsung hero who when on the field goes about his job in a tough and classy manner week in and week out. Just wish he had another 10 kilos of muscle mass protecting those bones and joints.
Absolutely. It was perfectly timed, and when I saw the slow motion repeat of how young Ash landed on the turf, it made me cringe and I knew he was done.
It was a double whammy too, because he was directing the Tits around very well, and it forced Hayne to get more involved, instead of choosing his moment.

Kahu was excellent. I'm so glad he could come back from the concussion test and finish a game as left centre. He seems to be a natural at supporting Milf and has all the skills to make Oates shine even more.

A couple of additions to some above posts:

The Kahu try when he got tackled by Taylor, Sammy was asking for him to get binned for professional foul, which still should have happened imo. Who cares if we scored - Kahu could've potentially injured himself from contact with a player that shouldn't have been involved. Extreme example maybe, but they still weren't technically punished for his illegal involvement in the play

With the comms, they were all awful, but this is the first time Thompson pissed me off. So far he's been pretty good but he got carried away on the Gus/Sterlo/Freddie bitch train last night. I know his job is to Rabs it up and be loud and expressive but it was too much

Hunt needs to run more, when he runs he can rip a team apart by himself if he is confident.

I knew Kahu had what it took to make that spot his own.

In fairness to Sterlo, I think he would be saying exactly the same thing if it had been any other team being awarded that try. He admitted it was the correct "letter of the law" ruling during the match. His point was that he didn't think that rule was designed to apply in the situation we saw last night.

This game didn't deserve to start off the finals series.

It was a good game, but I just didn't find it as enjoyable as I normally would have. It didn't feel like a finals game to me. Maybe it was the fact that I was sitting by myself and it was raining all night and I had people coming in and out that couldn't make up their ****ing mind on what they wanted to eat and drink etc.. But to me this game would have been better off on a Sunday afternoon.

Yep agree. There were titan supporters behind myself and decided to bend forward and scream in my ear all night it was quite aggressive, not good natured. Add to that people bobbing up and down standing in my view, missing crucial parts of the game.

I do fear Broncos have become the new Manly. Well stuff em all let's win the Premiership.

I don't give a shit if we have become the new Manly ... i find the tears of opposition fans quite soothing

Rewatching the game, anyone whinging about the penalty try can get double fucked. After a bust, with half the Titans still getting back onside, on the second tackle, Hurrell kicks the ball out to Jarryd Hayne who plays at the ball and then holds on to Kahu from an offside position (in front of the kicker). If not a penalty try it would or should have been a penalty possibly with Hayne being binned for 10 for a professional foul. Even if it was play on, Kahu didn't knock it on and Broncos would have spread it right and scored on the next set. There's just no way we don't score somehow in that set.

It'd be interesting to see the reactions of the media and 9s commentary team if it was Hayne who had the ball kicked out as he was about to score his first try since returning to the nrl. Gould would be filthy.

Don't let the arguments over the refereeing affect your enjoyment of the win. The Titans certainly weren't choir boys and the OPINIONS of non Bronco supporters don't matter at all. I'm chewing through a bottle of bourbon now and thinking about next week while all those other fuckers are chewing on their own bile. Boo friggin Hoo.

As for next week at least we know our opponents game plan. They will try to score off kicks all night and we need to defend them better. It's not just a matter of catching them. We need to support the guy going up for the ball. I would rather give away a penalty for obstruction than give away a try.

I'm also a little concerned about Gillette. He is absolutely one of my favourite players and I haven't watched the replay but I thought he was beaten pretty badly a few times last night. I'm not saying he shouldn't be there but if he's restricted by injury then maybe he should play less minutes and we should ask TPJ and Arrow to step up.

They need to play like they did in Melbourne and not give the opposition the field position for attacking kicks. Easier said than done of course but they have shown that are capable of doing it.

Tony Archer gave a press conference after the game as well ...

and he seriously had to say 4 times that the reason the bunker couldn't rule on the James Roberts kick was because it was before the play the ball and under the rules of the Bunker (and video referee before that) they are only allowed to rule on the final play before scoring, which starts at the play the ball and since Roberts kicked Simpkins before he played the ball the bunker was not able to rule on it.

then he started his comedy routine by saying:

"The Bunker is sitting at a 99per cent success rate this year," Archer said. "What you determine on that is up to you. What I do know is we've been more accurate this year, we've been quicker with it and there's more transparency."

Roberts is gone. Is opacic gonna be right for next week? We can't risk playing Glenn in the centres as he adds too much off the bench and lacks too much at centres.
