In a nut-shell, I don't believe Norman was 'way worse' than Wallace. Wallace was playing career worst footy and when we didn't think it could get much worse, it did.

I'm not looking to argue that point because I already did that when it was relevant, just lending an explanation since you popped the question. Right now, I'm all about showing faith in this 17 because on their day, they can do it against most, especially the Cowboys.

Yes.......we have Peter Wallace (sigh) and what's done is done.

Time to focus on the 17 picked and cheer the boys on for a win.

The Wallace hate is getting a bit ridiculous TBH. Yes I have given him
a hard time but he is obviously finding some form again. Whether you like him or not you can't deny that if he wasn't in the team last Friday then we don't win and all this talk is irrelevent

Fourex prefers Norman to Wallace as it stands, opinion void.

Which is why I said let's focus on the 17 picked and cheer them home for a win.....

But as for "you can't deny" if Wallace wasn't in the team we wouldn't have won last week .....please, don't talk about relevancy with that sort of thinking. Neither you nor I have a crystal ball and haven't the slightest idea if Hunt had of played instead of Wallace, whether we wouldn't have won ....won well or lost.

That said......it's time for me to put away my axe regarding Wallace.

It's semi finals time and he is the halfback of my team.

I have little choice but to cheer on the red headed nuffy .......go Wal !!

Actually .......I prefer Ben Hunt to Wallace. Hunt is a half as far as I'm concerned, not a 5/8. Peter Wallace is road blocking Hunt's possible development as a quality NRL halfback.

but please old mate, I've had enough of bagging poor old Pete. I'm prepared to get behind him for the rest of 2012

There's always 2013...... I'm prepared to wait it out.

I so agree about Parker, he was absolutely critical in SOO and threw the last pass on at least 2 occasions I can remember that led to tries. He was very involved. What a lot of people haven't nodded towards is Parkers ability with the ball in hand.

Thing is, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Thaiday seldom looks to pass or offload except on occasions in their red zone. As for Parker, his offloading can be fantastic but it hasn't been of late, and that might be because there is no-one in support.

We need support runners for those Parker passes, we need Thaiday looking to pass/offload to support runners ... damn it, we need a whole lot more of that cliche: bodies in motion.

(As much as I loathe Manly, I cannot but enjoy the way EVERYONE is always moving, either to position themselves in a play, or running in support, and they let the ball do the work.)

You can certainly make a case for Hunt being road blocked, but it's not Wallace who's doing the blocking, and you know that as well as I do.
Perhaps Wallace does need to make way for Hunt as the first receiver and take on the 2nd receiver role, which gives him that extra bit of time and space he seems to need, because when he has that, he mostly does come up with the right play.
Norman on the other hand is absolutely clueless in that regard, although he does have a few good things in his arsenal, like his kicking game, his ability to break the line and his instinct to show up in the right spot to take advantage of a broken play.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds much more like a FB to me, and that is where I think he should be next season if Hoffman doesn't improve his support play...

Normans defence is what he needs to fix and that can be done, Renouf was one of the worst defenders I've seen when he came into first grade but he worked hard to fix it and did.

I like that combo of Hunt, Wallace and Norman

we will win this week and everyone will be happy for a change.

now that we've trolled the entire competition into thinking we'll roll over easy :D

Amen to that.

Support is an area we haven't been strong in for a long time, even during winning periods.

A lot of the time we tend to let the guy with the ball do all the work while the rest of the team walks behind him. It shits me to tears when I see one of our guys make a clean line break with the rest of the team standing 10-15 meters behind him.

I'm struggling to find an argument against any of that........:thumbup1:

I think Hodges is on Tate's side of the field. That should be interesting

Nope they're on separate sides.

Right ... so to speak :)

I like these quotes from Jason Taylor in the SMH: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...d-give-manly-winning-edge-20120906-25hh4.html

"By playing with some Bulldogs-style passing in the forwards, the Broncos were able to isolate the Dogs' centres, who were unable to stop the Broncos' hard running back-rowers."

and

"After doing as the Broncos had taught them, the Raiders strung some passes together in the forwards. Raiders forward Tom Learoyd-Lahrs then carried the ball into the defence before flick-passing it out the back to McCrone. This gathered the Bulldogs defenders in the middle of the field, and their edge defenders, feeling threatened, came forward."

I remember that shift in our game plan - passing among the forwards. Hope we keep that part of it against the Cows, and ALWAYS have RUNNERS SUPPORTING THE BALL CARRIER.
