Pretty sure he's board level... but I would have thought that seeing as its finals time he wouldn't be able to help himself and be in there at training... surely he couldn't just switch that off inside, the bloke bleeds maroon and gold

It's all been said already but here's my take on this game:

We're rank outsiders at best, dead men walking at worst, with the Storm widely expected to put us down in clinical fashion.

Form lines of both teams certainly do lend credence to this theory, but it's not a bad situation to find ourselves in. Sudden death preliminary final against the remaining top seed, with our best chance in throwing caution to the wind and playing attacking football.

Lose and no one is surprised. But if we chance our arm and go at them the way we need to it's a huge win and a statement to ourselves, the partner for the big dance and the game in general.

If nothing else I'm looking forward to the boys going all out in attack. It's the only way to win and if we do go down, at least they won't die wondering. High risk, high reward. Show them no respect, be relentless in attack and defence, don't let them get settled and hope to God the ball sticks.

As primed as the Storm will be after last year and the potential futures of Cronk and Slater, I feel like the passing of Boyd's grandmother could be a huge factor. He'll have no better chance to show how much her support to him meant. Tipping a big game from him, which could well be a decisive factor.

You know what I think I'm going to just try and enjoy this game. Like most have said nobody gives us much of a chance at beating Melbourne.

If our stars somehow align and we play like we did in 2015 then maybe just maybe we can beat these guys.

Either way there are 14 other clubs who have already be knocked out and are wishing they were us. Any year you make that semi finals is a good year in my book. Anything past that is just awesome!!!

I think it’s a bit over exaggerated that the Storm are Boycott while Broncos are Symonds.

Storm off-loaded a lot against Parra. 11 times they got the ball away and scored two tries from very unstructured play.

They kept Parra’s offloads way down too; they worked it both sides.

Storm’s most offloads this year 17 v Broncos.

This season Storm have become more attacking. They still work to a post and set up but they’re definitely more unstructured in what they’re doing at times.

Adam Blair wants to win a premiership “properly” after Storm were stripped of 2009 title

September 20, 2017

BRONCOS prop Adam Blair has broken ranks and declared he wants to win a premiership “properly” after Melbourne was stripped of its 2009 title for salary cap rorting.

Blair will return to AAMI Park on Friday night when Brisbane attempts to knock off the minor premiers and qualify for their second grand final in three years.

The Broncos enforcer spent the first six years of his NRL career at the Storm — five of those during Melbourne’s systemic rorting of the salary cap under a former administration.

The NRL stripped Melbourne of the 2007 and 2009 premierships after discovering payments totalling nearly $4 million were paid to players outside the cap from 2006-10. There is no suggestion Blair received illegal payments.

The 2009 grand final win against Parramatta remains Blair’s only triumph in a premiership decider.

He did not play in Melbourne’s 2007 defeat of Manly and came off the bench when the Storm were thumped 40-0 by the Sea Eagles in 2008.

Blair was part of the Brisbane team beaten by North Queensland in the epic 2015 grand final.

In defiance of the NRL, Storm players have maintained they are still the champions of the 2007 and 2009 seasons, however Blair admitted he wants to taste legitimate success.

“I’d love to win a premiership,” he told The Courier-Mail. “It’s been a while since those moments. We got close in 2015 and there is an opportunity here for us to do something special.

“We worked hard for that (2009) and through the pre-season for the same goal and reasons. Everyone did their bit throughout the year.

“We turned up on the night and played as good as we could and got the win. I’ve still got the ring but it would be nice to do it properly.

“It would be good to be able to go and give it a good shake.”

Blair, 31, made his debut for Melbourne in 2006, developing into a Kiwi Test star before heading to the Wests Tigers in 2012.

He failed to reach those lofty heights during three years at the Tigers before reinvigorating his career under Wayne Bennett at Brisbane in 2015.

Blair will leave the Broncos at season’s end to finish his career at the Warriors and nothing would be sweeter than a fairytale farewell.

But the Broncos must first get past one of the most dominant teams in NRL history to qualify for the October 1 grand final.

“I had a good start to my career there. That’s where it all began for me,” Blair said.

“To go down there and play against a quality side that’s been pretty dominant over a decade, and this year, will be tough.

“They have got quality players throughout their team. In special times and moments in games they understand how to control those situations. They have had those players there for a while that can do those things.

“There is unpredictability with us where if we can go down there, we’ve got players who if we can get ball to and play some footy, they won’t like that kind of stuff.

“If you turn up, get stuck in and play the way you want to play, anyone can beat anyone on their day.”

Blair’s teammates are aware of his impending departure and want to send him out a winner, particularly following their 2015 heartbreak.

“I think Adam was pretty young when Melbourne won it so he would appreciate this one a lot more now,” hooker Ben Hunt said.

“I know I would. When I was younger, I didn’t really appreciate how close we got to winning a few years back.

“It would be a good reward for Adam. He’s been great for this club on and off the field and if there’s anyone who deserves a premiership ring, it’s him.”

Feed em, Blairy. Got to love cheat bants coming from one of the old storm players.

Thaiday calling them out for wrestling, Blair for cheating the cap. What's next?

Oh man that could not be worse.

I suppose in a way it could be.

Gerard Sutton could be lead ref. You remember how whistle happy he was against us the last time we played them in Melbourne..

13-7 to Storm.

My pre game nerves are already starting to kick in. I bloody hope we win this!
