It was far from convincing by the Panthers, but it always seemed like they had Souths measure. The loss of Graham really hurt the Bunnies and while they made better adjustments in the second half they just left too big a hill to climb. I thought Cook struggled to get involved in the game and Reynolds was easily contained by the Rabbits. I did not understand Souths obsession with the right-side, especially since they had a makeshift player playing there. They looked far more likely on the left but rarely went down there.
I thought Souths got some fairly lucky calls early on. Not necessarily bad calls, but the late hit on Reynolds and that high shot on Tatola were pretty soft. The Tatola one especially and it goes back to the inconsistensy @Dexter was talking about last week. They intervene on that but not on CNK on Morris from last week?
It was a very nervous win for Penrith. They bombed at least half a dozen opportunities and nearly let Souths steal it. From an entertainment perspective, I'm glad we're getting the GF we are because Melbourne would have walked all over Souths. I think this is a far more intriguing match. The best team in the competition vs. the bench mark team. It's like Cameron Smith's career has gone full circle and he now finds himself in the same position as Locky coming up against the new Melbourne Storm.
