Finals Week 3

It was far from convincing by the Panthers, but it always seemed like they had Souths measure. The loss of Graham really hurt the Bunnies and while they made better adjustments in the second half they just left too big a hill to climb. I thought Cook struggled to get involved in the game and Reynolds was easily contained by the Rabbits. I did not understand Souths obsession with the right-side, especially since they had a makeshift player playing there. They looked far more likely on the left but rarely went down there.

I thought Souths got some fairly lucky calls early on. Not necessarily bad calls, but the late hit on Reynolds and that high shot on Tatola were pretty soft. The Tatola one especially and it goes back to the inconsistensy @Dexter was talking about last week. They intervene on that but not on CNK on Morris from last week?

It was a very nervous win for Penrith. They bombed at least half a dozen opportunities and nearly let Souths steal it. From an entertainment perspective, I'm glad we're getting the GF we are because Melbourne would have walked all over Souths. I think this is a far more intriguing match. The best team in the competition vs. the bench mark team. It's like Cameron Smith's career has gone full circle and he now finds himself in the same position as Locky coming up against the new Melbourne Storm.

Sure hes a massive influence on who he wants but the bullshit contracts for some of these guys surely werent written up by him
WBs first stint at the club he had virtually unrivalled power and that was why he was usurped. Second time round he had a much more limited field of influence and wasn't responsible for contracts. First time, yes, second no.

I just won't accept that Bennett did not have a big influence on contracts when he was here. As I posted earlier, Bennett had his hands over everything at the Broncos

Well not as a scribe, but a Pharisee

I love this kind of comment. When it is a good signing it is all Bennett, when it’s rubbish it is the board lol.

Mods can we just check that B4L is ok and ask Porthoz to give his profile back?

This has never been the case. Bennett has stated numerous times he says I want this player, the board decide how much they pay and for how long.

Also have we already found our 2021 scapegoat? Lots of Bennett blaming kicking off again. We might have won a wooden spoon but if my own fan base becomes what the Knights fan base is then I’m out. Some of you can’t be reasoned with.

And the same ones responsible are still there...at the moment?🙄

On another note if Reynolds hadnt stepped on the line with the 40/20 kick I would rate that up their as one of the most clutch plays I had seen
If it was cleary kicking it would have been awarded a 40/20.....and like most games this year with questionable decisions theres no replay if it doesn't benefit the favoured side......that forward pass from cleary to capewell early in the game that was actually picked up but id swear there was 1 if not 2 forward passes in the same play!!!
As terrible as we were this year im sure a lot of you would have noticed the dubious calls that went against us ...there were no replays...the majority of our 6 agains were in our own 20...and the same can be said for probably another dozen clubs...most blatant was the game where the bunker took their usual forever to make a decision and came back with a call word by word from Ch9.....oh yeah and our captains challenge we won but lost😳🤢🤢

That's true, but he had the players playing well at least. Seibold took about 80% value off all our players that we can't even sell players to other clubs if we tried now.

No one is excusing Seibold. Just because he is a fucking fraud doesn’t absolve Bennett of his wrongs. Plenty of blame to share in this clusterfuck.

I personally know 4 or 5 blokes who had contracts renewed while Wayne was at the club and they all said he was one of the least involved in their contract negotiations. Now i'm not saying either he doesnt play a role because he clearly does, but i think whoever is negotiating with the players agents is the problem.

The fact that Bennett has little to do with contract and money length has already been stated, these guys just don’t want to listen.

I’m listening but I just don’t accept it, at least not completely. Bennett has his hands on everything when he is at a club, that is widely known. Yes he wouldn’t be intimately involved but he would have his say on contract length at the very least and the extent he wants them.

The further problem is that Wayne is a constant liar in terms of what he says publicly. As much as people claim I have an agenda because I don’t believe everything he says publicly you could also argue that people that except his word as gospel do so because of their own agenda.

My curiosity related to the Boyd, Bird and Milford contracts, particularly Boyd and Milford. I actually have no issue with Wayne being involved or influencing contract decisions and/or negotiations. What I do have a problem with is denials that he had anything to do with them, usually by Bennett sycophants and apologists. It is what is. Just be open and honest about it.

You just got anecdotal evidence from Wolfie, what more do you want dude? You’ve gone full Knights fan here. The only thing you can blame him for is saying he wanted those players at the club. I, for one, wasn’t happy that he let Corey Allan go, that’s another thing we can blame him for. Let’s make an actual list and discuss them

I’m not just talking about contracts and I have given my thoughts below on the anecdotal evidence. My main issue with Bennett is that the things that happen around him that he would have people believe just fall into his lap without his knowledge. James Roberts is a prime example. He isn’t going with him to Souths yet after a few weeks of kicking stones (which I am sure Bennett had no influence in) there he is. That’s just one example but it is amazing how all these things just happen around Bennett. Another amazing coincidence is the only thing that could secure our wooden spoon was the Bulldogs getting a win and the likelihood of that was the same as us winning the premiership. Next minute in come Souths who had been towelling up teams but miraculously couldn’t get over the all conquering Bulldogs, but can put a record score on the reading two time premiers the next week.

Just incredible isn’t it.
