Why did he go overseas and not come back until 2002?

If Bennett had that aura about him and never loses his man..
what are you on about? Langer felt like his standards had dropped and he could no longer perform at the level he wanted to, so he quit.

he was then coaxed out of retirement to play in england.

it was absolutely nothing to do with "bennett losing his man" and any attempts to paint it as such just show you have nfi.

I certainly wouldn't consider 850k a low ball offer for someone that has never played Origin. It is actually slightly more than what he is worth IMO.

Yeah ! This was from a rumour mill "7th tackle " i think . Im sure it was joe said that we put in a reasonably offer , and we wanted him . It has also been said that his dad has health issues and thats why he took the cash. Either way we are in a position that has us needing a 7 , one that could well be a better foil for milf .

You have obviously never seen that famous press conference in 1997. Maybe you should Google it.

I would think if the price was right Wayne would like to have kept Hunt. $1mil a season was just too far above the 'right price'.

1-8-1 after 10 games and then a 13 game unbeaten streak which saw them sneak into 8th. Incredible season.

No he's got a point. Look at Shane Webcke, retired years ago just so he could get away from Bennett...

That's not even close to the point I was trying to make.

Wasn't the point you were trying to make is that he didn't really retire and just chased the money even though Bennett wanted to keep him, thus proving Bennett had lost his aura all the way back then?

Still not reading the whole conversation before commenting.

I made a post a couple of posts before that stating Bennett hasn't lost his aura. Implying he still had his aura back then.

The point I was trying to make was that players have their reasons for leaving. Whether it's they don't feel they can perform at a high level anymore or they are setting up their family and helping out their dad with medical expenses or they see an opportunity to play their preferred position elsewhere. It has nothing to do with Bennett. A point I would have expanded on yesterday, just couldn't be bothered at the time.

Would LOVE to see Bennett answer that question in person "Wayne have you lost your aura?"

So do we all still agree Wayne has lost his aura, now that Foran has rung the club seeking specifically to play for us under Bennett?

I think the only thing Wayne's lost was his halfback.

Only to have the missing piece of the puzzle (Foran) begging to help take
us back to our glory days, where once again, we'll be a force to be reckoned with...[emoji4]
