Formula 1 next weekend!

Should be a great race, going down to Melb for the whole thing- then heading to the Rip Curl Pro Surf & Music Festival at Bells for 2 days after.

Hopefully Webber can bring in a top 10 finish as the 08 Red Bull is posting good times in pre-season practice. Otherwise Go Kimi!

Sebastien Bourdais should be one to look out for after making the progression from Champ Cars with 4 consecutive season wins. Even though he's in the poor performing Toro Rosso- he should bring some good results in his maiden year!

Anyone who has never really gotten into Formula1 or racing in general should definitely do themselves a favour and watch the F1. These machines are one of a kind and the pinnacle of motorsports!

I like the sport but hate Mark Webber with a passion he is overly critical on his crew without whom he wouldn't have a car to drive. I always used to like Coultard and don't mind Alonso or Trulli nowadays.

i can't wait for the race either. i'm looking foward to seeing how seb will go in competition with these guys. Montoya didn't make it.....but i do think seb's got a better chance here.it'll also be interesting to see in they have a better crowd this year with the v8's being back in the pre events. i'm hoping Australia can keep the F1 series here, hate to lose it :(

i'd like to see webber doing something consistant. well other then not finishing. when he started i think he had a lot of promise, but he's fallen behind atm imo.

How can you hate Webber but not mind Alonso? That's like... crazy! Alonso is a little spoilt girl. Whinge whinge whinge. If he could drive HALF as good as he could whinge he'd win every race, every year.

The thing about Webber, is he is a great driver.. but he is consistently given crap cars to race with. Jaguar, Williams now Redbull.. all hunks of crap that cant keep with McLaren, Renault, Ferrari etc. Apparently the new RB car this year is doing good pace in testing so we should see.

totally agree with you Mal. he has had average cars all the time. not the worst, but mid field unpredictable things. i would have loved ot have seen him go to ferrari. but i've also heard the car is seemingly better so ..guess we'll see next weekend!

lol i was sure kimi would do well. i was sure ferrais would finish well, but only 9 cars..well 8 really finished the race! i was so dissapointed for Sebastion Bourdais. debut race in F1 and the engine blows 3 laps from the end. atleast he picked up 1 championship point!

Was sitting on the start/finish bout 7 rows back :) Fantastic weekend (and messy.. [icon_drun). Qualifying was intense, Webber.. fastest in 2nd practice and to bow out in Qualifying and Race like that was just depressing, the crowd moaned.

I thought it was a good race- despite everyone falling out. There were some good battles. Unfortunate for Bourdais was looking good for 4th and was easily pulling away from Kubica and Alonso which is no easy feat considering he was driving a Toro Rosso (Who actually did quite well). Fucken hot days, 36-39 most days even hotter at the track. Made beer consumption increase.

Will be making the return trip next year, hopefully not as much alcohol consumed during this week (most is a blur) and not as many casino visits :P

omg..i havn't been to the GP. always been an indy girl but dads been asked to work the gp next year so if he goes i'm going! i would have loved to have been there. can't believe you had such good seats! and you had to have the beer...it was really hot!

were they serving the normal stuff or have they gone 'lite' like they've done at indy?

F1 >>> Indy. You gotta go! Naa all heavies, you could even purchase Stella! Booze and Food was pretty well priced actually, I was suprised. Yeah Seats were awesome $429 for all 4 days + got tickets for behind the scenes on the Wednesday, got heaps of photos might post em up (only on facebook atm). Also got entry into the GP Advantage tent which had a massive screen in it plus a few smaller tvs to get out of the heat. Which was just after the turn onto the straight. Awesome week!

totally agree, do you go to indy? last year they changed rules and it was light beer only because we have so many drunken morons and problems....like during the race last year a guy decided to climb up one of the highrises, and the talk coming through on the radio's was pretty funny.....but um yeah..lite is the new thing.i think the best year i had there was the year i was in the Honda vip stand. right on pit entrance. it was fantastic. it great to get to go in the pits and all that...
love to do it at the GP! you're so lucky you go to day that, i'm so jealous!

Thats the thing about Melb F1, I dont recall ANY drunk *****.. Maybe one, right at the end where he climbed the fence to get into pit lane while podium was on and was air-fucking the fence and it looked like it was about to break (was pretty funny, but concerning at the same time), but other than that nothing. Was pretty good actually. Honda VIP Stand nice nice.

lol..ok so the gold coast has no class and most people are drunk, naked both....i guess it sorta depends where you're located on the track though. but we didn't have to throw as many ppl out last year so i guess it sorta worked.
