Foxsports player of the decade *Winner announced*

Slater shouldnt be in the list in the first place.

But i reckon Slater is gonna be like Andrew Johns and be voted for everything regardless.

Difference being, Johns is far more talented than Slater will ever be and deserves some votes.

Slater doesn't deserve to be on the list.

Congrats locky what a fking champion

Billy Slater did win a Golden Ball, Clive Churchill, 2 Premierships, 3-4 Origin Series all in a short time add to that he deserved the Dally M Orford stole off him the season before last. Not the best of the decade but he had a very big impact on it.

He didn't deserve to be on the list, Petero should of have been on the list before Slater.

And yet those will fall into obscurity, only for people to remember the real Slater of the noughties - handing NZ the World Cup.

BTW, might be a silly question, but is the Golden Ball that Billy won some sort of reward for post full-time antics? eusa_think

Or is it what the Kiwis did for him after that WC final at Suncorp? [icon_lol1.

Golden Boot or whatever the world's best player award is. Sure he has made some blunders but he also does do a huge amount of good, I think once again people on here go too far in there criticism of the guy. You have to also remember Billy handed NZ one try and so did Darren Lockyer who won the poll, by letting Lance Hoihaia stroll through him for a try.

Missing a tackle isn't as ridiculously stupid and dumb as throwing a howler though.

Darren Lockyer will also be remembered for scoring two tries, 1 try assist, 2 tackle breaks and making 20 tackles that same match, I wouldn't be too worried about his contribution to that particular match over one miss tackle when his own contribution to helping his side far outweighs that.

So so so so true.

You guys are right but Billy Slater and Darren Lockyer both cost Australia 4 points in the match, FACT.

Slater's mistake gave ALL the momentum to New Zealand though and it had Australia playing catch-up football with not long to go. In the context of winning the match, Slater's mistake was FAR worse. That can't be denied.

Oh I agree, I just think people don't seem to give Slater a shred of credit when he really has been incredibly good for the last half of the decade and has a fair case to be in the top 10. Lockyer is a clear and deserving winner all I was doing was pointing out that technically both cost us 4 points in the match, thus the age old mantra 'everyone makes mistakes'.

FTR I have no issue with Slater being in the top 10 of the decade.
