CRONULLA star Paul Gallen wants to quit the Sharks and has already started secret negotiations with Wests Tigers and Manly.

In a bombshell that will rock Cronulla's off-season, Gallen is looking to play elsewhere in 2010 because he is fed up with the club's hardline response to his on and off-field indiscretions.

After being stripped of the captaincy and fined $10,000 for a racial slur earlier this year, the aggressive international was last week slugged a further $10,000 for urinating in public.

Although half the latest penalty was suspended, Gallen is privately fuming and has told friends he no longer feels inclined to return to Sharks training after the Christmas break.

Despite having a further two years to run on his current deal, the 28-year-old now wants out immediately. In the week since the fine was imposed, approaches have been made on Gallen's behalf to the Tigers and Sea Eagles.

Both clubs have shown interest in poaching the firebrand backrower - provided they can accommodate him under their 2010 salary cap.

what a cry baby, if he doesn't want to get penalised like he is, then maybe he shouldn't commit the indiscretions.

Wow, you would want that guy captaining your club!

He won't be the captain of an NRL club if he leaves the Sharks, and nor should he be.

What a tool. If he didn't act like an idiot, he probably wouldn't have been punished.

I think his latest fine was over the top, he peed in an ally, bit deal.

Have to disagree here, especially considering his already guilty of offences commited previously, if anything I think he got off lightly compared to other players like Clinton especially considering his had half his fine suspended.

the size of the fine may have had something to do with his record though and that the Sharks are going through an image problem because of their former CEO, they probably also didn't want the NRL to say that their punishment of Gallen was inadequate

Seriously though if his behaviour continues in the same vein no matter what club he is at they will have to take a really hard line - the NRL would stand for nothing less given his history. So he should just pull his head in a play footy.

I agree with Kaz.

He peed in an alley next to the head of his mate that was passed out in said alley.

That's feral.

Yeah, it is. But a $10,000 fine from his employer is excessive, hell, any form of a fine from an employer is excessive for a police matter.

An employer whose primary business is in public relations and public reputation, I think fines are perfectly legit.

When does an employer become the law?

If the courts want to fine him, then so be it. If that activates that he be suspended, then so be it. The clubs and NRL should be dealing with suspending or cancelling employment, not handing down BS fines.

They're fining them for damage to the company's brand and earning potential. Totally just and fair.

You also don't know what stipulations or special clauses are written into his contract - I'd say there'd be a few given his past history of indiscretions
