Game I Queensland Origin Team

This is potentially a massive dick move from Kevvie. If Thurston plays and Milf is left out, I will cheer for NSW.

Too far. If Thurston is not 100% and he ends up playing I will think of him as selfish. If he is %100 then he deserves the spot over Milf. No matter what happens I could never cheer for those bastards. Have you forgottenn the past?

The senior players won't allow Milford to go invisible and by seniors these are full on leaders in cam and cooper who will demand him to play. He'll also have Chambers defending outside him who is very organised and vocal.

Regarding the niggle there is no way the Qld forwards will allow NSW to get away facials and late shots on milf without reacting and we will get the penalty if there is a blow up, because the video will show it. I could see milf not allowing it to just gloss over either. Forwards are protective when their halves are targeted.

Refs have also been blowing the whistle on facials in origin nowadays

I'm starting to think that Thurston is playing, basically everyone thinks he is, they just asked Laurie on a live cross whether he thinks he'll play and he said "From what I've been told, he's 100% playing", or something to that affect.

Oh well, it'll be a good week of experience for Milford regardless.

I have heard that he was close to playing against the Sharks but Cowboys decided not to risk him.

Glad Slater didn't make the team. You can't sit out 2 years and expect to take Boyd's position, and he's not a winger. Good move. Happy with the team, little bit light, but it's not like we are going up against a good team.

Its good to see someone shining a little light on perspective. :superhappythumbsup:

Ok. Maybe not cheer for them, but if it happens, I will be hoping Queensland lose.

Leaving Slater out is pretty crap. Nothing against Boyd at all, I love him as a player, he's a great fullback and an outstanding winger but gee wiz.

I'm surprised Bolton wasn't at least in the conversation... a few years back he was in the origin frame when he was starting 2nd rower for cows and playing 80 mins. His transition to prop has been quite good.

I'd rather gagai in centres instead of O'Neil, that would allow Holmes to be on the wing. Never rated O'Neil
O'Neill was very solid defensively last year and actually surprised me in that regard... but I would've preferred Munster in at left center with Chambers on the right. Munster killing it at 5/8 on the left including his first up contact in defence... had a try saver against Crichton on Sunday. He will also get through a mountain of work and is a great runner of the ball. Chambers is also a very good right center and probably doesn't deserve to not be considered an incumbent because he missed through injury.

Also a lot saying Boyd is just as good on the wing, but really in origin all he has ever had to do is wait on his wing and fall over the line after either JT/locky deliver the perfect pass or GI steam rolls through the NSW outside backs.

You can afford to have Boyd on the wing when GI is inside him... you can afford to have anyone on the wing when they have GI, JT and Lockyer inside them as long as they can take a bomb.

FWIW I prefer Boyd at fullback and consider him to offer more purely because of his ball playing

bitch....

Am glad Boyd was retained at fullback.

As good as Slater is he's only played a handful of games. i think the Blues also have him figured out. He was bashed mercilessly in the 2014-15 series. Players like Farah know they can get away with more. Pretty much all of Slater's kick returns would've been a penalty at NRL level.

As for Milford, well Bennett forced Kevvie's hand. I think it will be pretty shit if Milford, having been named at number 6, does not play.

I know it's a pipe dream but I hope everyone involved does the right and honorable thing. If JT is not right then he should rule himself out. If Kevvie definitely knows Milford isn't playing then he should be released to play for Brisbane.

I get the feeling behind giving a champion player every chance but fair dinkum why wait till Sunday? Or the day before? Or Friday? Does one day really make a difference with that type of injury?

It's a "**** you" to Bennett IMO.

It's a "**** you" to Bennett IMO.

And why not. Bennett is happy for British players to fly halfway around the world to take part in a meaningless friendly in he middle of their season but refuses to let a kid from his own team get the experience of a lifetime because a future immortal might not be fit.

Bennett does a lot right but he too does things wrong sometimes. That said, knowing Bennett, he probably used his media influence to get Milf into the side.

A few of these selections just don't stack up for mine.

I just can't see how you can leave Slater out. He has always been awesome in origin and IMO is probably the best fullback of all time. He is in great form and has obviously worked his guts out to get there. Plus he has that freakish combination with Cronk. Boyd would have slipped easily into the centres , wing or even 5/8. Kevie's line about not wanting to put too much pressure on Slater after only eight games back also does not stack up. The guy thrives on pressure and looks fully fit.

I honestly think Milf is not yet ready for origin , at least as the starting 5/8. He is still developing his game as a 5/8 and his passing and kicking games are still definitely a work in progress. He would make a great bench player though. A few other options for 5/8 if JT is not available would be Munster, DCE or even Boyd or Slater.

I believe the Nate Myles selection is taking the loyalty thing way too far. His form has been downright ordinary and he is definitely at the end of his career. Hess , Wallace or Sims are in much better form and are our future.

Bennett has confirmed that he had discussions with Walters before the selection snd be was happy to release Milford.

The only reason he didn't want to release Milford was if he was niy s genuine chance to play

Happy enough with the Slater omission. He hasn't been able to get back to his best yet after returning from injury.

Holmes is a better player than Oates and should have been on the wing. Gagai should have been in the centres with O'Neill cut.

Our forward pack looks poorer than it should have been. Was the right time to move Myles and Lillyman on and bring in Wallace and Hess.
