Finch should go, can't score a run and now losing to Zimbabwe. Have Wade open, David in the lower order and Cummins captain for the world cup.
Cant blame this one solely on Finch unfortunately. Only 2 double digit scores and some ordinary shot selections and reviews both with the bat and in the field. I would agree that cummins captains the 50 over world cup but dont think wade or david are the right options (wade on age and David because hes a t20 specialist).Finch should go, can't score a run and now losing to Zimbabwe. This batting is a disgrace.
Doubt it. It should have been made 2 years ago, and Finch is a prick of a captain for not retiring or standing down. Warner should be opening with Head or Usman.A call on finch needs to be made soon, surely?
I agree. I like Finch but we have been witnessing 2 years of this shit. His good captaining tactics argument has warn out. Retire from ODI cricket tomorrow if you can. T20 WC the squad has been picked, you can have your last hurrah. Tactically he is very good so worthwhile keeping him there for t20’s.Doubt it. Smith is no guarantee for T20 team. Has a little more of a solid case for ODI, but you can’t have him as skipper, when he isn’t a lock in either team. I really don’t think there would be that much backlash if he was to be made captain by the media.I agree. I like Finch but we have been witnessing 2 years of this shit. I don’t want to be to harsh on him either, it’s dead obvious there are internal pressures for him to stay.
Future skipper; Pat for mine isn’t a viable short format captain. Doesn’t play it enough and won’t play it enough. That really only leaves Smith as a viable option. You could argue Maxwell as he is a lock in both teams and Carey will be in the conversation (doubtful he would snag it though). Look it needs to be Smith but the execs can’t really afford the media circus that goes on with that. They get the sack (/forced to resign) very easily and I think after our 12 months of what I have forecasted underwhelming results in the biggest of competitions and series, they will all be under the pump for signing McDonald to what I believe is a 5 year contract (I’m not a fan if you couldn’t tell).
But the central point being is that the One day World Cup is to far away to just sit there and let us suffer. I have the utmost respect for Aaron he has been a major part of the set up since 2011 when he debuted. I usually let blokes like Aaron have the chance to call time on there own terms when there that accomplished but deadset the writing has been on the wall and we have been waiting for 2 years and it’s time to call it quits whilst the public haven’t completely turned (it’s happening though). Lovely bloke go play a big bash season, have one last crack at an IPL season and then get yourself a media or coaching gig. Or why not both. One thing for sure is that it is time to call it quits on One day cricket. The writing is on the wall when the commentators can’t hold out a optimistic approach on the captain of the side for the public.
If his body can hold up. There’s a reason why generally most of the better batters have been short. Add to that he bowls, but I look forward to what his career could be.But on a different note, Cameron Green man, what a superstar. He is going to be a very wealthy man by the time his career is done with all the contracts that he'll be getting to play in all the big leagues.
