Golf - Who Plays?

What bags does everyone use? In the market for a new one as I aim to start playing a bit more regularly. Not looking to break the bank considering I don't even have new clubs..

I just go to golf world or Drummond and see what's on special. Built in esky a must

I use an Ogio cart bag. Fits well in buggies and trolleys. If you don't care if it's brand new, just get on marketplace. There's always quality bags up for sale for $150 and under.

Yeah I did start there (and gumtree) but was really nothing of note that I could see. Might keep an eye out. Cheers

I'm expecting delivery of 52/56/60 Vokey SM10 wedges next week.
How are these going for you? Did you delve into the grinds and hi/lo bounce (have to admit i dont really understand it too well as i have hand me downs, so never had to choose anything)?

Im on the verge of dropping 3k and just fully decking out my set, figured i should replace my wedges while im at it. No idea where to start though.

Currently run a 52 56 and 61, dont mind the 56 and 61 but dislike the 52.

Thinking about a 50 / 54 / 58 setup.

Fellow golfers, what do you run in your setup?

Best wedges I've had, big upgrade from the Callaways.

If you're dropping 3k, absolutely get yourself fitted. Most fitting joints will actually fit you for free if you buy your clubs from them.

I just checked, the joint where I got fit for my wedges are running an EOFY sale with free fitting. It's absolutely worth it.

I had a fitting a few months ago and they recommended me either the zxi5's or the t200's. i played with a mix of t350's/t200's at torrey pines and they felt nice, so just gonna go with that and eat the fact I'll play like shit for a little bit before i adjust.

then again, i have so many different makes and models in my random set at the moment that hitting the same grips, shaft, head width/height etc, I might not crater as badly.

good point on the fitting for wedges though, will probably do that in store. Am thinking of going Vokeys as again, played with the SM8's at TP and they were lovely. Just need to work through some of the grinds and find out what is best suited for my swing i guess.

i think all up it's going to cost me 3500 or thereabouts. 4-PW t200's, odyssey ai one 2 ball, 48/54/60 and a new bag. I have a 52/56 that aren't too bad so if I find somehow gapping starts to become a problem I can fiddle with the wedge setup to an extent.

Getting the same set, grips, lengths, lie angles etc will be a massive improvement for you.

T200's are a nice looking iron, I don't rate the AI putters at all when I've tried them, but putters are so different for each individual, if you haven't tried a LAB I'd recommend it, I had about 8-9 putts with the new Spider-ZT and it felt like the nicest putter I've ever used, and will look to upgrade to that soon.

52/56/60 has been my combo for as long as I can remember, I don't like a bigger gap than 4deg, if you want the 54, I'd be going 50/54/58.

the problem kinda is, the pw is a 43 for the t200's, so i'm forced into getting a 48 unless I get it bent a degree or two.

I haven't tried the LAB putters yet - I liked the AI-Ones just on how light they felt comparatively to my anvil that I use - plus the pistol grips are nice (again, probably because the grips on my putter are shit).

Yeah that's fair, 43 is an insanely strong PW.

I think you should get a putter fitting. When you do a fitting, they actually show you the putter and your path swing differentials. When I originally had a Scotty Cameron blade, as I've always been a blade putter user, I had a difference of up to 9deg from 10 putts. When I went to a mallet, it was 3deg.

well it's done, 3700 later and I'll have a new bag, 4-gw t200's, 54 and 60 sm10 vokeys and the odyssey ai one 2 ball putter.
Least I'll finally have a consistent set of the same make/model.
Next stop will be settling on a golf ball, I've always used random brands based on whatever was in the 50pack from lostgolfballs. Would make sense to be consistent with this seeing as the sticks will all be the same.

hoping to have them in the next fortnight.

50 54 59. They're old Ben Hogan's I was given.

I lost my 52 about a year ago. Looking at getting a new one as it starting to annoy me now I can't hit a full swing 110-115m

I haven't really gone down the rabbit hole with looking to upgrade which is why I've put off buying a 52. I know once I get that one it's over for the others.

ooh yeah, my set is in. not using them tomorrow because it's strokeplay and that's a recipe for disaster.
will be sleeping at the range next week tho trying to dial in

I seen a nice odessy set in cost co only 800 for driver to putter. You don't need spend big no matter what your experience is. All that truly matters is your practice time with a solid basic swing for consistency.

yeah don't get me wrong, I do not think for one second that dropping 3700 on a new set will automatically make me a better player. There's a reason I stuck with a whole set of completely mismatched clubs for 2 years, because ultimately I know it's the dude holding the stick and not the clubs.

But I'm kinda at the point now where I'd like some consistency off each club, and at least getting a fitted set for my height and my swing (I'm a sweeper, so I needed something with good turf interaction) will give me the same feedback. Playing different brands and models, lengths, grips is only going to get me so far. Plus my wedges were ****ed anyway, the grooves were cooked (because they're like 5 years old and hand me downs).

and I figure now this set will last me 5 years, or will have good resale value if i trade them/get the shits with golf and quit forever.

All about the ball that suits you, and what spin rate you need, and at the end of the day, how much you're willing to spend. If you wanna keep it cheaper, and don't mind a spinny ball, I recommend the Kirkland from Costco.

I migrated from TP5 to Bridgestone Tour balls when Golf Clearance Outlet sold them for $43 a dozen, I bought about 12 dozen. Now I'm playing at Wynnum instead of Brookwater, that should last me over 18 months. I rate them on par with TP5, and very slightly behind a ProV1.

You hit 52 110-115m? That's genuinely long hitting.
