Griffin's contract to be extended

Re: Griffen's contract to be extended

Great news. I've been singing Hook's praises for awhile now and on the record of saying that he'd be one of maybe 2 other coaches I would have been fine with replacing Henjak.

Speaking of, not to drag this thread down but Ivan actually selected Glenn to play five eigth. Carroll started over him, but Glenn played the majority of the game in the halves. It didn't work out but really Henjak didn't have much to choose from other than two NYC halves who weren't up to standard, Aaron Gorrell or possibly PJ Marsh. Pretty sure he wasn't injured then.

Griffen on the other hand had the same two NYC halves who at this point were seasoned and moderately experienced & still opted for a backrow. It's not the reason we lost though. I reckon the absence of Hoffman was huge that night, if only because it meant Copley had to play.

Actually the game I was referring to with regard to Carroll I think was a selection by Bennett who wasn't uncommon to making some weird decisions at times though you are right about that game you mentioned, he wasn't intially selected in that game just ended up there.

Re: Griffen's contract to be extended

The purpose of a contract is not to bind someone to a deal rather it exists to ensure fair recompense if one or all parties fail to honour the contract. The only thing that makes a deal work is integrity. The contract just says out loud, we like you and you like us. Expecting a contract to bind someone to do something is like expecting a marriage to work simply because you exchanged vows.

Unfortunately sports contracts are torn up even more readily than marriages these days! ;-)

Wouldn't bother responding to Alec's post anyway. He only said it was a bad idea after we lost, just like he'll only bag a player after a bad performance, and try to come across as a visionary.

Nah, I definitely said it wasn't a good idea before the match too. I do admit I save my player targeting for when they have a bad game... but doesn't everyone?

Contracts. Steve Kearney had one.
