Has Cozza lost the playing group?

We aren't seeing any leadership from Parker as captain at the moment. We're mentally shot and he doesn't seem to have the capacity to write the ship. It casts significant doubt over the nature of his retirement, and whether or not Bennett is trying to shoo him along because he knows he isn't popular amongst the younger players.

You might remember there were murmours of this being the case the last time Cozza was in the mix for the captaincy. Hodges ended up getting it.

Whatever is happening is absolutely ruining our season. There is some deadwood in this team at present that needs to experience Intrust Super Cup and see how interested in league they really are.

I'd start with Blair, but there are a few close behind him.

Parker / Bennett may have 'lost the playing group' but there are a lot of 'professional' football players in this team at present who are not doing what they are paid to do.

Time for some lessons.

When hook made Thaiday captain I remember reading somewhere it was because Parker and JYY didn't get along at all.

I find it ridiculous that the younger blokes wouldn't respect and try their hearts out for Parker.
I don't know what it is, but I don't think it's this.

I've heard rumours as well about Parker not being an easy bloke to get on with, i posted it on here ages ago, and his treatment of some of the younger blokes ( along with Hodges i have to add ) was appalling. However, i dont think he has lost the playing group tbh.

I think its more an issue of leadership throughout the playing group. We just dont have any good captains and we haven't since Locky retired.

Totally agree. Im pretty sure when Darren was captain and parker had the duties in his absence his record was atrocious.

Parker only ever got the captain role during the Origin period.. When we were missing half of our starting side.

Make McQuire the captain. He seems like a no nonsense type of bloke who also seems to respect those above him (coaching staff). Boyd might not be hard enough to pull some of the plodders into line.

Parker seems to be the last of the old school- fight for everything you get, don't expect any favours. We've all heard the stories about him getting into fights with the senior guys at training to earn their respect. That's just no longer the way it is, and perhaps the younger guys just don't click with him.
