Seriously why do we continue to pay Hodges? He missed all last season and has started 2011 injured as well. Rough guess is he is on say $350k so over the 2yrs we will spend 700k on a player who proberly won't even play...

Do we show faith in him or cut him loose? I believe his contract runs out the same time as Locky so if Locky retires and Hodges is cut loose we have some nice change to spend.

So far he has missed 2 rounds, lets just see how many games he plays before we completely give up on him. I believe he will be taking a paycut to stay on in 2012.

How about we wait and see how he does this season before deciding to let him go.

I'd rather we keep him anyway, because he's our only outside back who can create opportunities for himself. Beale, Reed, etc don't even come close in terms of attacking ability.

players get injured and its medical advice when to play. [icon_shru

i hope for your sake u never get injured at work and your boss goes oh your job is redundant now lets stop paying workers comp.

hodges seems to be keen as mustard to get back on the field and i cannot wait until he does and i hope he has a stellar rest of the year reclaims all his rep jerseys and helps the broncos to a 2011 GF win

I love how everyone always compares Sport to real life. He plays by a contract, if he is still injury prone and spending more time on injured list than he does on the field imo it would be silly to renew his contract. This is a club with a salary cap we are talking about not a construction company.

If he has another majory injury this season then he will/should be on a massively reduced contract for 2012 if we sign him up.

I don't know who is on what but I would imagine regardless of how many games Hodges plays his contract should reduced.

i was going off this. contract renewals with no games under the belt would be pointless [icon_shru

I wouldn't be offering him another contract. He's too old, one of the most injury prone players of the last decade, and is eating up a sizable chunk of the salary cap.

Shouldve offloaded him last year when the injury happened and gone hard after another centre.

Well we did go hard after another centre but Rain intervened....

It all depends where Bennett will be coaching next year

Umm... We did go for another centre?

achilles unfortunately for him is an injury that can happen to anyone randomly. my mate had it playing park soccer as a goalie. took a step backwards and snappo.

hamstring niggles etc yeah they are annoying but string a few games together and those litle injuries get played out. i for one hope he recaptures his good form and remains at the club even if its on a more incentives based contract/

I agree with draggx, cut him after his year unless he turns things around big time. He has always been injury prone and players don't normally recover quicker as they get older. He has had a doubt over his comittment to rehab as well.

First time I seen Broncospwn Pwn someone. Lol. Well done son,.

Junior Sau is off contract at the end of this year. I'd love him to play for us. He's a ledge.

Too old? He's only 28. And besides, age is only relevant if he's actually played heaps of games because your age can reflect how many games you've played. But for Hodges, he's played what a bit over 150 games or some shit? Comparable to a 25 year old.

Injury prone but not too old. If he can stay injury free somehow (lolz) then he would be a big part of our team, but I doubt it.
yes, too old. hes 28 with the legs of a 50 year old. ive never understood people saying that players that have had 2-3 years off with serious injuries can play til a higher age because theyre 'fresher' - theyre not fresh, their bodies have been injured so seriously it kept them out for a season at a time, numerous times.

thats why you see some people give the game away when theyre 24-25, even though theyve played <100 games - serious injuries dont make your career last longer. i dont want a nearly 30 year old with dodgy hamstrings, a dodgy achilles, dodgy who knows how many other parts, and a tendency to get in trouble with the referees, being paid 300k+ to sit on the sidelines for another year.

As long as Hodges took a significant pay-cut I'd sign him up, otherwise I'd set him loose.

Long - I like Sau but his defence is entirely suspect and I don't think he has the ability to fix that.
