Hoffman in the halves

If Hoffman isn't the best person for the job under the current circumstances, then who is?

please tell me you are not comparing Hodges to Kahu. Hodges is a far more important player to our team than Kahu

and tell me where i said we should sack Kahu ... He is not a 5/8 anyway, his best position is fullback, he only trained at 5/8 out of necessity.

I didn't realise we were talking about players importance to the team, we were talking about players who are injury prone, you appear to be of the opinion that Kahu isn't a viable option at Five-Eighth because of his knee problems, if that's the case, Hodges isn't a viable option for first grade either.

The skill of a player doesn't change their bill of health.

Someone who doesn't disgrace the NRL.

name of a person that is ready for first grade ... all of our youngsters are at least a year off being ready and it really isn't worth rushing them this season ... even if it does mean Hoffman moves back to wing.

especially since whoever gets selected there this year is NOT likely to be the 6 in 2015 when Milford comes, so lets bring the youngsters development along at the right pace

You know you really don't know if a player is READY for first grade until they have tried and failed. You need to stop carrying on like that is actual fact when it actually isn't.

THIS THIS THIS

... and if they fail, and if in the longer term they are meant to succeed in NRL, a failure is but an opportunity to learn and develop

There are some tell-tale signs with a lot of these players where a debut game isn't necessary to determine that they're either not ready or even up to first grade.

Skill-set, athletic ability, fitness etc. etc.

Some players just aren't capable of making that next step up.

Before the NYC was started young players were thrown into the deep end and succeeded though. And other clubs would have them playing already if they lost their halves.

In broad terms, you are of course correct. One also has to ask the question why are players named in the Broncos NRL squad.

Maybe I am naive, but to me, it means they are considered to have at least enough skills, athleticism and fitness to at least get a go.

Strasser, Cullen, Paia'Aua, Taylor, Nikorima ...

... and if the next 3 games or so, if Hoffman hasn't contributed to any point scoring, either assists or tries, then in my view, alternatives are called for

I honestly doubt any other club would put their winger, who was a really good finisher, into the five-eight spot. You think if James Maloney got injured the Roosters would say "Hey, Daniel Tupou! Want to play five-eight?" Nope..

Technically Hoffman was our full back and other clubs would certainly put their fullback into 5/8 if they had to.
