Hook a retrospective thought

I can actually picture hunt moving to the tigers to play 5/8 under hook. He and Brooks would be an exciting halves pairing to say the least.

Hook does have an ability to get a lot out of young players. His 50+ win % would have to be an improvement on the tigers record.

Yep, I feel exactly the same. Once we have Hunt & McGuire locked up he can sign anywhere he wants

He won't coach first grade again.
 
I can see why he made a good U20s coach now.
At that level you just have to hit it up and let the talented guys come up with their own plays. There's no defence, so eventually someone will score.

Surprisingly, that didn't cut it in the NRL.

So long and thanks for all the fish. Hopefully next time Wayne picks his successor, it's someone slightly better.

Remember the time he took the club to it's worst ever finish in it's 25th anniversary year.

Biggest club in the NRL being run by an amateur for four years, good fucken riddance.
 
sheesh, tough crowd in here ... hey when it comes to the anti griffin fan club I'm in the front row but my protestations are moreso directed at the 'higher ups' who botched the craig bellamy deal in 07' and thumbed their noses when the door was slightly ajar for Michael Maguire earlier this year
 
I've always maintained that a lot of the Broncos fans have been very harsh on Hook.

I understand where ya'll are coming from, we're the Brisbane Broncos, a one-city town with this proud history built on all these amazing values but there was always going to be a down period and when one of the greatest players of all time called it quits, it was always going to result in disappointment. Especially without a contingency plan in place. It was always going to be rough and while Hook made mistakes along the way and wasn't as creative and busy as he needed to be I don't think there are many who could have achieved anything worthwhile in similar circumstances.

I'm happy that Wayne is coming back and don't think the club is too far off premiership #7 but I'm not going to act like Hook was a cancer that didn't do anything positive at all for the club. He was a good guy who played a big hand in the development of a number of players - some would argue that he didn't develop enough which is fine but it's still MORE than nothing and at least he didn't scare GI off from signing with us.
 
I think Hook was a good man, but was just not able to create an effective game plan.

I'm sure he has good points BP, but "better than Henjak" is a low low bar.

Wasn't it always Hook's claim that 2015 would be our next serious premiership chance?
