OPINION Hypothetical: Reynolds or Hunt?

With Mam out for a good majority of the year, bringing in Hunt to play 6 and Reynolds at 7 would be a good halves pairing.

I think you may be forgetting what life was like without Reynolds and the “build the next generation” shite sounds good in theory but everyone is scarred from 2020. Remember rushing out Macca for Turpin only to try bring in someone like Isaac Luke to fill the void of experience. You’re making it sound like experience isn’t a valuable asset.

No reason to rush someone like Black into first grade when you got someone like Reynolds. Mozer on the other hand has had last year in Cup and most of this year sprinkled with some NRL games so he is more primed to go.

Also I don’t see how it’s delusional to want/get both of them. They are both towards the end of the career & Hunt seems like he’s going to choose a side that is in the best position to win a prem. He’s meeting with Madge and DD over the next 48 hours so it’s definitely on the table at least.

I'm not lobbying for Black because I think he's already pressing his case, I'm just even less convinced by the alternatives.

Unfortunately, Reyno gives me latter day Alfie and Wally flashbacks. You get glimpses of their greatness, and it wins you some games but the bigger picture gets sadder as the season progresses. I hope I'm wrong.

Depends on what hunt is signing for to play his preferred position or a shot at a ring?if it's a ring, halves for 8 games or however long mams suspension is then hooker for the remainder of the season with an eye for him at 7 the following year is still better than not trying to sign him for 2 years.way better than our options at 6 and 9 for next year and 7 the following imo

I hadn`t considered the play hooker option . I have heard him say He doesn`t want to play hooker in clubland more than once. Though , maybe with the promise of glory it could persuade him ?

I'd hope so if he is serious about wanting a ring to cap off his career it's about the only thing he is missing
If not then he can jog on what's best for the team should be paramount

It’s an interesting one. I back Reyno cause at his best he is better and as a club we owe him dearly. But at the same time I have far more confidence in Ben Hunt replicating his 6 tries 30 try assist season than I do Reyno staying on the field and playing like he did prior to 24’ season. He had lots of injuries but he rarely played well when he did so the confidence just isn’t there to the same level as it would be with Hunt replicating good form. But still everyday of the week Reyno but I’d love for us to find a way to get Hunt. It mitigates the loss of Mam for half a season then the back end we have a top quality hooking rotation for a finals push and then next year we have a quality halfback option whilst we wait for Black to come along.

It’ll be the same deal at the rorters - they’ll pair him with Sandon Smith and then move him to hooker when Walker is back because they have no faith in BSmith. In my opinion they’re more likely than us to bullshit him about playing in the halves long term, however.

How long is Sandon Smith suspended for considering he's been charged with grievous bodily harm from a multiple car crash and also didn't tell anyone considering it happened last March?

Would think he should be looking at half a season as well... maybe even more given he kept it secret from the integrity unit and rorters.
