I am a p!ssed off that Manly & Storm were only fined $50,000 each

Do we want to give them 2-3 weeks for tackling Blair on the ground? I don't think so, that's a bit much.
no - but they should get 2-3 weeks for tackling blair to the ground and then all throwing punches in bunches at him in a 5 on 1 situation.

I agree with Peter Peters. She is a good sort. But my god...what an idiot.

THE Manly Sea Eagles can add a sexist gaffe to their judiciary woes - with a senior official apologising for calling a Sky News reporter 'a good sort'.

The club's longtime media manager Peter Peters made the comment last night as the Manly contingent left the NRL judiciary - and the embarrassing footage is now being broadcast by Sky News.

As Sky News sports reporter Megan Barnard asked Glenn Stewart whether he was happy to have been given an adjournment, the only response came from Peters.

Twice the former player, broadcaster and Manly Sea Eagles stalwart said: ``You're a good sort''.

Stewart will return to the judiciary tonight.

Barnard is a senior figure on the Sky News sports team and Peters today apologised.

“It was at the end of a heavy day with all the legal drama and it was a stupid thing to say,'' he said.

“She was following us but our guys weren’t allowed to comment so I’ve said something silly that I now regret.

“I’m trying to get Megan’s phone number to apologise.

And then this. The classic "I'm not a sexist" line...

“I’m not a sexist person and I work alongside a lot of women in my job at Manly.

“I’m a grandfather for god’s sake.

“Megan is an attractive young lady but more importantly she’s a very good journalist.

“Again, I’m sorry.”

Of course. Grandfathers are never sexist... LOLZ.

The guy is a deadset imbecile.

What a strange bas****.

It's more unprofessional than sexist.

Exactly. But then, this is a club that's saying Glenn Stewart isn't guilty of fighting because he shouldn't have been sin binned in the first place...logic and professionalism don't apply.

Oh what? Seriously? Have you ever seen a fight on the footy field where a ref breaks up the fight? You will ALWAYS Have players running in to break up the fight, ALWAYS. Who else is going to break it up?

Nothing wrong with players running in to break up a fight. There is however, something wrong with players trying to take out the opposition player in the fight instead of breaking it up. That's why Brett Stewart got 1 week and others did too. Do we want to give them 2-3 weeks for tackling Blair on the ground? I don't think so, that's a bit much.

Yes, every fight! Every fight is broken up by the refs. Other players usually run in first, so the ref has to break up several fights. Rock, you can't seriously be suggesting that without the refs these all in brawls would stop by themselves?

I am OK with players running in to stop the fight, but not to join the fight. I think we agree there.

I'm just saying that a player running in from such a distance to punch on rather than try and stop the fight, should get more than 1 week. To me it's a p!ss weak penalty for what the NRL has described as a serious offence. Just sayin'

I can't wait till I am a grandfather, you can't use that excuse for everything..

So, my understanding is Stewart cannot change his plea as that time has passed. He either gets found guilty and should cop at least 4 weeks because he gets no discounts or Manly know something ( conspiracy theory ) and think they will get a reduction in grading. I can't think of any other reason why they would contest this.

Not sure if Stewart had carryover points but lets say his charge gets downgraded from a contrary conduct 5 to a 4, that equals 425 points then he gets to say oh yeah well I'll take the guilty plea for that because essentially it's a new charge. He would get 25% discount which leaves 318 points less 1 point for every minute he spent off the field (54) so a total of 264 points and a 2 week suspension.

Early plea
If the player enters an early plea to the offence and accepts the grading, the player is entitled to a reduction of 25 per cent of the base penalty and also a similar reduction in any increases due to other previous offences. A player can enter an early plea up until midday on the day following the charge.

Alternatively, the player may prefer to have the charge heard by the panel by either entering a not guilty plea or a guilty plea but dispute the grading. If found guilty at the subsequent hearing, the player receives no reduction unless the panel reduces the grading. If the player pleads guilty but disputes the grading and the panel does reduce the grading, the player also receives the benefit of the early plea discount.

I can't stand all the Manly muppets saying that "glenn was walking to the sin bin and Blair was running to catch up to him".
OMG. EVERY TIME YOU ARE SENT TO THE SIN BIN YOU RUN. Muppets. Dead set.

Even at touch footy your team get pissed if you don't run to the sin bin.

I am guessing (conspiracy theory) Glenn Stewart will say, Blair said Brett is a rapist.

Glenn Stewart only got 3 weeks. Doesn't seem enough IMO

Should have received another week for instigating the fight. Otherwise I'm fine with it.

Yep that's my gripe, Blair was not the instigator yet gets the same punishment.

I am still dumbfounded why G Stewart didn't get charged for striking , other than that I'm over it, and hope Manly don't make the GF.

And we beat them by 43+ .

Manly are really compiling a long list of misdemeanors with Peter Peters effort and Lussick stating today the game was the best day of his life and how much he loved the blew. How to win friends and influence the NRL.

I guess having two ex Manly players in the panel helps... :shake:

He was sacked? I thought he was just stood down?

Y'know what the sad thing is?

Watching the Today show, I had completely forgotten about that awesome story about the cerebral palsy sufferer who ran out with the team on Friday. Now that was a great story, much better than Peter Peters being stuck in the 60's, Lussick declaring Friday was the best day of his life and Stewart pussy footing around at the judiciary.
