Gilchrist and Warne have kind of ruined it for future cricketers. All spinners are now judged on Warne as are all keepers judged on Gilchrist.

Great point, Mister Wright. I think the only difference being Warne knew when to retire. He probably could've gone longer but the same can't be said for Gilly. Gilchrist, Ponting, Hayden etc all should have retired at least two years (if not more) before they actually did.


By scratching out those last few years they have sent the development back of the current team a fair way.

Was it worth it though? Maybe there's some merit in Hayden and Gilly but Punter definitely needed to go. His dire form in the 2009/10 ashes should have been the swan song. It's amazing to think he only just pulled the pin this year. As a result our top order has been in disarray for years now because of carrying him.
