more money won't do anything because it will just go to the marquee players of each club.

And what is wrong with that? All great sports/teams have that 1 highly paid superstar.
If you look at this list of who has left the game most of them are not marquee players so yeah it will help marquee players but in the overall scheme of things most of the players leaving the game aren't "marquee" it's just that it's more noticeable when they lave the game. Simply raising the cap won't help keep those middle-tier players who are the ones who are really leaving the game in high numbers.

Hunt,Izzy,SBW and Gas could all be marquee players if every club had space in the cap to have one.
Yeah ofcourse but just looking at the other thread made listing who has left the game there's about 30-40 who aren't marquee players, just solid players.
I would love to see 1 player exempt from cap along with loyalty discounts + ofcourse a rise in the cap.

But imo it's not the 30/40 Average players that matter but the 10 Big name "Marquee" style players. We can handle some average one time rep players leaving. If they didn't then its the Juniors that would be leaving before they even get a chance in A grade. It is when blokes who play 10 origins and 10 International games leave that it really hits the game.

Spot on, we want to keep blokes like Hunt, Folau, Gasnier but let go turds like chambers, Michaels and Leon Bott

Ok, I have an idea. All contracts need to be signed off and approved by the NRL, so this would be a two fold process. Firstly any club wanting to buy a player needs to show the NRL that they can afford them and how they will fit them into the salary cap. (Maybe that’s being done now not sure) Secondly all players must sign an agreement with the NRL to enter into a transfer agreement. Transfers between NRL clubs would be exempt however transfers outside the NRL would incur a transfer fee compensating the NRL for either loss of trade or future marketing exposure. So basically a first grade player would attract say a $500,000 transfer fee, a State of Origin player say $1,000,000 and an Australian rep player say $1,500,000+ depending on their statute in the game. No doubt there would be calls for restriction of trade however the NRL must be compensated for their lack of future revenue. Also the only reason these players can attract the big money elsewhere is due to the marketing and promotional money spend on the players and the game and the NRL must have some recourse to protect their assets’

10 Years of Service, they no longer count under the cap.

That's a stupid idea. Coxy is an IT man, not a sports administrator - he absolutely should not be allowed to leave the IT industry to take a new job in a different industry - how will IT cope? They must put a stop to this - once you are in IT you must stay in IT for life. Coxy should be punished for even considering such disloyalty to his industry.

In fact they won't let me work in the IT of Origin project coming up. No fair.

IT of Origin sounds really epic actually.

Yeah, it's basically Microsoft vs Apple...but it's no contest. Apple don't have anything even remotely business related. But when it comes to pretty pictures and making movies, Apple wins.

I have an idea... we clone HodgoBerro but alter her mind so she sticks with union and AFL exclusively and make her more ugly with an even greater tendency to stalk her favourite players. We make about 4 copies of her for each club in either code to harrass the shit out of their stars and make them scared to even go out in public for fear of merely seeing her. Once this happens the top players of both AFL and Union will be willing to come to our code for chicken feed. Of course we will alter her clones to think NRL is terrible and therefore she won't follow the players once they defect.

Perfect.

Very feasible IMO. Top shelf plan Scotty.
