In defence of Steve Michaels

Last year I was calling for Michaels on the wing and Folau to partner him in the centres.
This year, I still believe Michaels is a far superior winger than centre, and I'm sure others started seeing this as well. I'm happy with Folau being on the other wing though, but that's offtopic.

Anyway, the back 5 I would have would be
1. Hunt
2. Michaels
3. Glenn
4. Hodges
5. Folau

out of the backline he named you would have to get rid of Michaels. all though i do like michaels on the wing. we could possibly use Winterstein in the centers. i like the role Glenn is playing off the bench ATM, so i would drop Gorrell of the bench, using Glenn in the utility role.

Yeh Glenn has to stay on the bench, nobody could play that role as good as he is doing at the moment. Backline for me is simple:

3. Hodges
4. Folau
5. Winterstein

Stats for a centre mean close to nothing, stats can really only be used to measure a props performance to a certain extent, because their job is to more or less make metres and tackle.
Wingers/fullbacks/centres/halves/hookers, stats don't really tell anything on performance, lockyer can 3 metres in a game and make one tackle but sitll have a brilliant game, hodges can make 4 quality runs and micheals can make 10 rubbish runs but stats will show micheals did more, etc

Honestly using stats to argue that a centre has been performing well is pointless.
