In defence of Steve Michaels

Is there a stat on how many times Michaels has failed to pass to his winger when he should have? I think that'd be really useful.

Perhaps that is why he kicked the car. He is incapable of passing and thus resorted to the kick!

I must have missed something but Hodges has copped plenty past and present about not utilising his outside man when the opportunity arrises, why should Michaels be free of criticism that Hodges has copped as well?

That's completely irrelavent, wtf? LOL, so if people don't call for lockyer to be dropped every week for doing something wrong, then we can't call for any player to be dropped even though they are playing very poorly? [icon_lol1.

Justin Hodges and Steve Michaels are very comparable.

Michaels doesnt pass to his winger just as Hodges doesnt pass to his winger, and Michaels has better stats.

I was giving examples of why I think there is a group mentality against Michaels that is unfair.

Of course Michaels has better stats, he has played 3 more games than Hodges this year. Not that you'd care about that.

Ari Gold is correct, theres no conspiracy against Michaels.

Stats can be misleading and relying on them to defend a player doesn't make it correct, take metres gained. One would assume that because Michaels has made more metres so far this season then Hodges (700 to 641) that Michaels has been more effective, but what it doesnt tell you is Hodges hasn't played 3 games this season nor that Hodges is averaging a higher rate of metres per game.

I think you'll find Michaels has been told by Henjack to hold the ball and not to pass after he had a few errors in the first few games... he'll get his passing license back soon.

And for the record, I don't know why he's getting bagged either, i don't think he's having a bad season at all and neither do the people who matter ie Ivan and Mal. Some people on here just have NFI

Michaels is average at best and I thought that before he had his knee problems. He has little to offer in attack other than a decent finish and defensively he is not overly smart or physically good. I hate the way he crabs across giving Winterstein little to no room to run if heaven forbid he actually passes to him.

Mjc is right (to a degree). I think its unfair how a certain group of people on this forum band together and shout down people who have any opinion (on any topic) which is different to theirs. Same thing happened in the Nick Kenny and Michaels thread.
Whilst i don't totally agree with either side on either thread. I do agree that Michaels must be doing something bloody right to still be in the squad. Yow Yeh was one of my top 2 picks to have a massive impact this year along with Mccullough (or however you spell it), in saying that I had no idea how valuable Glenn would be, and Yow Yeh can't get a look in.
If the people that make the decisions agreed with the popular opinion here, im sure Folau would be in Michaels' centre position by now.
