He's automatically selected as the Australian captain. So he'll play if he wants to play.

Really, who cares if the stars play? Its a shits and giggles game and its meant to be good fun.

I for one can't wait to see all the stars out there playing with a few more exicting bits chucked in with mic'd up coaches and 4 point conversions.

Feb 13th or something maybe the 23rd i dunno. But i need to get of my but and buy tickets.
 
Saw an ad for this game on tele yesterday and they were listing some of the players you will see in action for the All Stars - "Lockyer, Marshall, Smith, FALOU, HAYNE AND SOME OTHERS I CAN'T REMEMBER". Made me laugh a little cause apart from Lockyer, Marshall and Smith, none of the players they mentions have been selected yet. To add to it, they finish off by saying to go to the website and vote for who you want in the team. LOL
 
Pretty sure this is going to be a shit game. It's money that could be spent on the International game.

Not to remember an apology that is still a topic that's still not accepted by a large amount of people.
 
Agreed. But hey, it's a decent spectacle in February...after a long summer I'll enjoy it.
 
I don't think it will be the best game, mainly because it will be first game back after the off-season and a lot of these guys wouldn't have played together much (if at all in some cases). I agree with you to an extent Nashy. However imgaine the uproar if Preston Campbell goes to the NRL with the concept and they said no - the "NRL is racist" outcry would have been enormous - wouldn't have necessarily been true but it still would have been terrible publicity that the game can ill-afford.
 
Absolutely agree with that. Was it that blokes idea was it?

Honestly the negativity gets boring. This is just an exhibition game and it will be a high quality match. Even if the real sting is not in the tackles, so what. What other code has or can offer an exhibition - with resultant publicity - of this kind, uniquely Australian (Kiwi players notwithstanding) and showcasing the best the code has to offer?

International games and exhibition games are completely different; one does not take the place of the other. I would want to see any formulation of rugby league exhibition game in the off season, selection criteria based on anything. Left handed v right handed. Rangas v non rangas. Aborigines v non-Aborigines. NSW v Qld. I don't care, just show me rugby league, especially when it's the best v the best in category X. Those of you who are fretting about the politics of it need to relax imo.

If done right this game will become a massive event in the future. 2011 will be held at suncorp and itll be a sell out.
Its Perfect a match with a meaning to the fans. held on a day before the season starts giving the NRL a chance to give fans a taste of their ideas.

This is by the fans opinions the best of the best playing it out.
 
Don't get me wrong - I can't wait to go to it and support having exhibition matches. Although I don't really agree with things split along racial lines - I think in many cases it highlights the "differences" (perceived or otherwise). But, just like pre-season trials, I don't think it will display the players at their best due to them just finishing the off-season and being a bit rusty.

Damn straight! Can't we just all sit back and relax and watch some of the super stars of our game show off their stuff?

Save the passion for Origin.
Save the politics for the off field.
