Brisbane fullback Karmichael Hunt was ruled out of action for up to three weeks after suffering a knee injury against Gold Coast on Friday night.

Hunt hobbled from the field midway through the first half of the Broncos' 26-24 loss to the Titans in the NRL clash at Skilled Park.

Specialist Dr Peter Meyers said Hunt would miss two to three weeks because of soft tissue damage to his left knee but he would not need surgery.

Re: Injured Hunt out for 2-3 weeks

Thankfully Boyd has handled fullback reasonably well in his absence.

Re: Injured Hunt out for 2-3 weeks

Could be a blessing in disguise for the Broncos. Hunt will find it extrmely hard to get in the Origin side this year after this injury.

Re: Injured Hunt out for 2-3 weeks

We're gonna have a pretty inexperienced backline next game if Hodges gets suspended as well..

01. Boyd
02. Kemp
03. Michaels
04. Stagg or Moon?
05. Robinson (is he back yet?)

Re: Injured Hunt out for 2-3 weeks

I'm just gunna go cry now.... just jokin.... what a bummer for him.

Really injuries had to start hitting him soon, he's had it pretty good over his whole career with the only injuries side lining him for long stints being the Broken foot in '06 and the hamstring injury last year. Before that he spent the odd game out with concussion.

Hopefully Knee injuries won't be reaccuring throughout his career.

Bummer for him that he mightn't have a chance at Origin but i wouldn't mind having a fresh Hunt running round in a Broncos jersey while the other teams are down a couple stars or they are playing tired.

Although he hasn't had a lot of game time in his legs this season so far, and has been a bit dead some games in attack, he's been far from his best.

Re: Injured Hunt out for 2-3 weeks

Maybe we could ease Locky back into football at fullback? We are doing a pretty good job of scoring points without him at the moment so I don't think we are desperate to have him back in the #6. The way Souths are going I doubt he would have much traffic coming at him either.

Not a bad idea Dave but doubt WB will go for it. Souths will also be desperate for a win and each loss will get closer so shouldn't be taken easy

Didn't Souths break their duck against us a couple of years back, albeit we were very much Origin depleted?

I hate games like these. I remember being as nervous as hell when we played the Knights while they were on that record losing streak. These are games that we really should win and win comfortably but these days nothing remotely close to being cetain.

the more games Souths lose the more dangerous they become, so we need to be on next Friday.

Imo, Hunt is playing awful football whereas I reckon Boyd and Michaels are playing out of their skins! Sure - Michaels missed 3 tackles on Friday, but Stagg missed 6 and that dropped ball in the in-goal ... loved the try Michaels set up for Boyd.

Boyd at FB is a very good choice I'd say. Given the way Hunt has been playing, I doubt we'll miss much at the moment.

I also hope Robinson is back, and Marsh too.

Also, imo, assuming Hodges is suspended (which I think is a bit harsh but to be expected) time to give Moon a run in the centres with Stagg in the back row where he belongs.

If Lockyer (and Marsh) returns, then I see a big win.

Yeah, should definitely give Moon a go. I think that could be his best position now, closely followed by Lock.

Good thing you don't support the Broncos, hey Frank?

This Friday's game could get ugly. Not that I think we'll lose, but does everyone remember last year's match in Brissie between the two sides? Most frustrating game. Ever.

anyone know when his injury happened?? Was it a result of that massive step he produced?? (that's kind of the only thing i remember seeing that could of done it) Which by the way, I found it pretty awesome to sit behind and watch that step, like it looks good on telli but wow. Kind of reminded me of the '04/'05 Karmichael Hunt.

IFRC we weren't depleted from the origin, had a near full-strength team, and were the only team Souths beat the entire year.[/quote:wzu94wk0]
[icon_lol1. Not even close. A weak trolling effort, Frank.

Are you talking about the game in 2006, Round 14 at Telstra Stadium.

Brisbane, to their credit, went into the match below full strength with up to eight regulars away on State of Origin duty for Queensland.

You lose.

That's one of the worst I have seen.

Not sure if this was the exact team that took the field, but this was the official team that was named:

1. Darius Boyd
2. Tame Tupou
3. Greg Eastwood
4. Casey McGuire
5. Leon Bott
6. Brett Seymour
7. Shane Perry
8. Shane Webcke
9. Ian Lacey
10. Brad Thorn
11. Dane Carlaw
12. Corey Parker
13. David Stagg

14. Dave Taylor
15. Ben Hannant
16. Neville Costigan
17. Joel Moon

Missing, as far as I can see, Hunt, Lockyer, Tate, Berrigan, Carroll, Civoniceva, Thaiday and Hodges. I'd call that depleted, especially in mid-2006 and without Lockyer.

FMD. If I blindly support the Broncos, then I'm doing a shithouse job of it considering I've tipped against them three times so far this year...
