Broncos backrower David Fifita is due to come out of his leg brace this week as his recovery from knee repair continues, while prop Matt Lodge looks good for Thursday’s night’s clash with the Eels.

Broncos coach Anthony Seibold said: “Matt Lodge is the one that most people would be interested in and we feel Lodgey is a good chance of playing on Thursday night.

“He trained well last week, was in full training on Sunday, we’ve got another session (today) and we’ll make a decision then but in likelihood Lodgey will be on the bench.

“With longer term injuries like David Fifita, he’s going to get out of his leg brace (today) and then it’s just a rehab process.

“So however long that takes it takes, we’re not real certain, we believe it could be five or six weeks from when he gets the brace off but we’ll be very cautious with David.

“We had the repair done on his knee because we want to look after his long term future and he’ll miss a few weeks but … he’ll play plenty of footy this season, there’s no doubt about that.”

Sean O’Sullivan, Keenan Palasia and Jordan Riki all continue to work their way through rehab after knee problems, while Jack Bird continues to heal after knee surgery.

Utility back Jordan Kahu is the only other new injury concern with a slight hamstring issue.

Fucking hell, Kahu picks up injuries while rehabbing other injuries. **** me.
And the Warriors keep going on about how they have $1mill in talent sitting on the bench injured. There is more $ wrapped up in just Bird and Kahu who will not be playing a game this year.
But in all fairness, Kahu isn’t anywhere near this 17 even if he was 100% fit..

Suddenly sounds like Fifita is going to miss several months, damn. That 5-6 week timetable seems like the bare minimum, a bit more if we're being cautious (which we will, considering our wealth of forwards once TPJ is back)

To me Flegler has already surpassed Joffa .
Busts taclkes and can off load . Two things Joffa fails to do

can only speak for myself; Joffa is entirely expendable from this squad.

Now, you can make a case for his personality and professionalism etc being a benefit to the group, and thats fine. We said the same about Macca now for a while too..

You can also see how thin we are now at hooker & second row with Macca gone, Fifita injured and TPJ on holidays...if the club also feel the same way then perhaps its Joffa that makes way...

Or...Siebold can always ask Lodge what he should do....

I’m not a hat person but gee I wouldn’t mind one of those broncos caps that Bird is wearing. Looks mint
He looks like he'd the kind of guy that was always standing on a train platform asking to bum a cigarette and then asking to bum your lighter as well.

Granted at the moment we have an unusual circumstance where two Edge Backrowers are out at the same time, but I think three top shelf guys in that role is all most clubs can afford to carry.

It's an 80 minute role in all but the rarest of cases now and with the NRL looking to lower interchanges even further next year, 80 minute Edge players will be basically essential for all sides.

It's fine to say we can cut a Middle player like Joffa, but in truth, we require a minimum of 5 Middle Forwards every single week (Two Props, One Lock and two Bench Middles), and in some instances we might even play a 6th Middle Forward. Compare that to Backrowers where we really only require two on any given week, and it starts to make sense why we don't carry a number of spare top shelf guys in that position - it's just too hard to have valuable guys who can't be on the field every week if they aren't starting on that edge.

The club has Difi and Glenn as specialists, and TPJ as a work in progress, plus a couple of young Edge guys coming up the ranks. That balance is pretty much perfect for the demands of the NRL at this stage I'd say.

Realistically I think Glenn is best coming of the bench when our forward pack is at full strength.
That's presuming that TPJ's defence on an edge can stand up to the rigours of week to week action in that role, which the jury is still very much out on to be fair.

At least tho with TPJ on the field we have some attaching spark and 2nd phase from his offload...............problem is keeping him on the field.
