International rugby league

They used to do something like that with England v Barbarians which would be a mix of the international players but this was then changed to England v France.

If they did do it, this year the team would have been something like:

1. Field
2. Miski
3. Keighran
4. Hiku
5. Feldt
6. French
7. Lam
8. Mago
9. Ipape
10. Waerea-Hargreaves
11. Fitzgibbon
12. Sironen
13. Asiata

14. Morgue
15. Vaughan
16. Ese’ese
17. Martin

One idea I was thinking of to solve the England international issue for europe would be to have a SL based Aussie team play them.

We do a similar thing in soccer based on the internationals where some games we put A league players in due to the schedules and others we only have european based players, I think it would be a good happy medium.

Given the Aussie contingent in the SL are generally some of the better players in the league I think it should be reasonably competitive.

At the bare minimum just off my head we definitely would have the best fullback and half from the SL in the Aussie team in Field and French.

As a side note if NRL ends up taking over SL we really need to bring the good up and coming french players to Australia, they are the obvious national team that needs help to become competitive, we have already seen them start to move to england to play for better teams.
Standardized rules would go a long way to upping the standard, nrl need to just buy up the sl comp.pie in the sky wish for me would see the sl absorbed by the nrl into one big comp.

Maybe the Super League could do a hostel takeover of the NRL ... The NRL administration is incompetent at best. Hell, might be a way to finally be done with Vlandys

Haven't read it, but looking at the title I'd say it's a hypothetical that an NRL team would buy an ESL team and then just use the ESL team's salary cap as a reserve grade / feeder team to the the NRL team... train them up in ESL and then ship them back to NRL when they're ready without paying a transfer fee and without having to use NRL salary cap to keep promising, but unready players.

They also probably link it to Lockyer and London Broncos, because clicks, ragebait, etc.

a number of clubs are considering purchasing Super League clubs, including us, the Roosters, Storm, Eels, Bulldogs.

Acquiring a UK club would give NRL clubs a pathway into England for juniors and offer opportunities for player loan deals.

Rising Australian players could also be relocated and developed in England, and vice-versa.

NRL players could also be moved to England for a year if required through salary cap constraints or a player could spend the final years of his career at a UK sister club.

One NRL CEO said:

“Buying or part-owning a Super League is something NRL clubs are looking at, but it would all depend on whether the NRL invests in Super League.

Only the wealthy NRL clubs could afford to buy an English franchise but it would certainly have its advantages.”

Grant Wechsel, London Broncos part owner (with Darren Lockyer) said when asked whether NRL franchises could consider buying or joining English clubs:

“Yes, I think that day might come, particularly for some of the (UK) clubs that might need stronger financial backing.

“There are some clubs that are always going to be independent but, from our point of view, we would be open to linking with an NRL club in the future, that would make sense.

“We’ve always been open to the idea of linking with Brisbane, because of the name.”

Gold Coast Titans assistant Brian McDermott has reportedly pipped Brad Arthur and Sam Burgess to lead England at the World Cup.
