Forget Moylan, Gus has moved onto Mez.

He's been sooking ever since the Downer Test that his boy didn't get picked.

Thurston won 4 Dally M's
Lockyer won none.

Dally M's are individual awards not team awards.

End of story.

Blake Austin won 5/8 of the year despite not even being the best 5/8. DCE won Halfback of the year despite not even being the best halfback. Those awards are a joke.

Lockyer - 4 Premiership rings. 3 at fullback, 1 at 5/8.
Thurston - 2 Premiership rings.

End of story.

Dally M's are a media awards decided by halfwits like Paul Kent.

Wrong again.

They're still individual awards. Not to mention Thurston has more golden boots then Lockyer and Johns.

Kevin Sinfield won a golden boot when it was obvious to all that Cameron Smith was the best player in 2012 and his achievements dwarfed Sinfield in every way possible.

Keep this up big fella you are actually entertaining me.

Not that Thurston necessarily wasn't the best player of the year in those years, but Dally Ms are beyond shit awards. Not only are they judged by retards, but the 3-2-1 system is flawed too (sorry BHQ player awards), as it doesn't differentiate between the 4th best player of the match and the absolute worst.

Who do you think was then. I think it was accurate.

Really? You really think that Blake Austin was the best 6 last years S DCE was the best halfback in 2014? Even though he was beaten by Hunt in the Dally M count, the same count you seem to hold in such high regard?

Is this real life?

Guys, hate to break it to you but Lockyer doesn't even begin to compare to...

Robert Laurie
Greg Alexander
Gavin Miller
Gary Freeman
Cliffy Lyons
Trent Barrett
Preston Campbell
Danny Buderus
Matt Orford
Todd Carney
Ben Barba

Not even in the same league.

Yep. Sure do. You do know who gives out the 3-2-1's after each games right? Nobody came close to being as good as Thurston in 2015.

To have a NSW blues Coach (Of all people) to say that he's the Greatest of all time is as unbiased as it gets. Not one coach who had the chance to coach the Maroons would ever say that about Johns.

Yeah but Gus called Lockyer THE Football God. So he's above everyone else on your same unbiased account.

Greatest ever. He rates Thurston over Lockyer. And stats back him.
The only stat that matters in the NRL is the NRL premiership. That's the goal after all.

Lockyer has four, Thurston has 1.5, being a bench player doesn't really count.

Lockyer has captained his state and country, which is the highest individual achievement, has Thurston done either?

Norm Provan won 10 premierships. Using your argument he is better then Lockyer lol

Captaining a side doesn't mean you're a better player.

Are you done yet or what?

To contribute to the thread, no he isn't. Lockyer's 2006 season achievements were/are and probably will be the best by any player ever. And let's be real, Thurston's first premiership isn't something that adds weight to the argument. If Steve Price is fit, JT isn't there.

Also something that hurts(?) a lot of the Locky memories is we had some awful seasons towards the end of his career while the Cowboys' final seasons have caught up to JT's level and are now if anything amplifying his output, thus the constant circle-jerk from media types. Thurston has also been relatively long-term-injury-free, bar his leg in Origin in '11. Lockyer missed the end of '07, first half '08, end of '10 and of course the PF final of '11.

Lockyer also never lost a Grand Final to Benji Marshall

JT's career is far too checkered to be considered the GOAT.

How many seasons did the Cowboys miss the finals altogether? How many were they just making up the numbers?

Compare that to Lockyer who played a pivotal role in seven top four finishes.

Johns and Freddy had similar influences on their sides.

It wasn't like JT was the shining light who made every single game a contest - there were times where his play was so impatient he was hurting his team mates.

His past two seasons have been fantastic, and he's had his moments before then, but is he as consistently brilliant as others? No.
