Ivan Cleary Sacked

Hook was a terrible coach at the Broncos. I'd hate to see what a bad coach would look like if Griffin wasn't a bad one.
I don't agree. Hook simply didn't have the cattle at Brisbane. That was partly his fault though

You still have to make the most out of what you have. Our gameplan was rubbish, our players were too fat, he was just full of terrible excuses too.

He did after all get the best out of Hunt, signed Milford, brought out the best of Copley and worked well with the younger guys. We also made the finals 3 out of 4 times under him. I don't think he is the second coming of Gibson or anything like that but he is decent.

Our team was good enough to make the finals every year. He "got the best" out of Hunt after screwing him for 3 years. And Hunt was still very one dimensional back then (short side raid was his only play_, teams just hadn't had him figured out yet.

What's this bullshit about him not having the cattle?! The squad wasn't terrible but to play fucking Josh Hoffman at five-eighth for almost a whole season means he is a bad coach. To not notice the major issues the team had until like round 20 definitely makes him a bad coach. Good bloke, maybe. Good coach, no fucking way.

Hook was absolutely average is about all I can say. Definitely can't say "good" but he's not exactly Ricky Stuart bad either.

There was no-one else to take his spot apart from Barba who was a complete failure so he didn't really have a choice tbh.

If there was no choice besides Hoffman then he was/is an absolutely awful coach. Hoffman couldn't pass a ball to save his life, so putting him at 6 was beyond stupid. There was alternatives, like Kahu, and going for a junior, or even having McCullough at 6 and promoting Jake Granville who struggled to get game time under numpty Griffin yet wins a premiership as a key player the very next year. You basically take someone who is up there as the worst ball hog in the game and put him in a position that requires you to pass, that would be like putting Josh McGuire at wing where the most important assets are a running game and catching a high ball, something he has no hope of doing.

FFS, now I'm pissed off about how awful it was being a fan with a numpty like Griffin as coach, had NFI how to use a bench, everyone was put on a KFC diet, numpties like Hoffman got put at 6 because he had a cry about not being able to play fullback and one of our best players was wasted for years on the bench passing the ball out of dummy half.

Ricky Stuart wouldn't have put Hoffman at 6..

I actually think he could have done alright with our squad.

He is the kind of coach that needs rep players to be any good...

Ricky would have blown it and the only title the Broncos would have been fighting for in 2015 is the wooden spoon.

Hook paid the price of putting all his eggs in the Milford basket after playing catch-up for a crappy 2012/13 recruitment drive.
