Jack Bird Discussion

But seriously, it's a street of bars right on the beach. Most tourists go there when they're in Phuket and I had mates in town. Plus I wanted a happy ending

Nothing better to spoil your happy ending than to run into Cuntfield

You pick the one with the rosy cheeks and she goes down on you. Then you realise why they call the capital Bangkok.

JACK Bird says he is happy to play in whatever position fits the Broncos next year as he gets excited about his move north.

Bird will leave the Sharks to become a Bronco after signing a multi-year deal this season.

While playing for the Australian Prime Minister's XIII in Papua New Guinea on the weekend, Bird said he wasn’t sure where he would play next year.

Bird has played in the centres for the Sharks, but can also play in the halves or lock.

With Josh McGuire entrenched at lock, and Anthony Milford and Kodi Nikorima in the halves this year, there is a centre spot open with the departure of Tautau Moga to Newcastle.

Bird said he had discussed positions with coach Wayne Bennett.

But he underlined his move was motivated by the chance to be a better player and man, rather than a position.

“We did speak about playing in the halves, obviously because Ben Hunt is leaving,” said Bird.

“But Kodi Nikorima has been playing good football and I guess he’ll probably put that No. 7 jersey on next year with ‘Milf’ in the No.6.

“I know I will be in the squad somewhere and I know that Wayne will have a plan.

“(Signing with Brisbane) wasn’t particularly because I wanted to play in the halves.

"I just felt like I needed a change and I felt like Brisbane was the right choice for me.

“I also wanted to play under Wayne as well and try to better myself as a person and player.”

Bird also laughed off suggestions earlier this season he was going to renege on his contract.

“If I didn’t want to go to Brisbane, I wouldn’t have signed there and I would have done a backflip by now," he said.

"But I am true to my word. I want to go to Brisbane and I’m looking forward to the move.”

I hadn't seen this image before, pretty cool that TPJ was trying to persuade him to come to the Raiders when they were 16/17 years old, now they're both at the Broncos.

Is this legit? If so that is awesome, I wonder how he become to be keen on the broncos growing up in NSW and all?

Wayne Bennett has blasted Cronulla over their handling of Jack Bird’s injury

November 2, 2017

BRISBANE coach Wayne Bennett has launched a stinging attack on the Sharks as tensions escalate between the clubs over the handling of Jack Bird’s transfer to the Broncos.

In a major blow for the Broncos, Bird underwent a shoulder reconstruction on Wednesday, with Brisbane’s $3.5 million marquee recruit expected to miss the opening month of the 2018 NRL season.

The development has infuriated Bennett, who is adamant Bird would have been fit for the premiership opener if the NSW Origin utility underwent immediate surgery to correct a shoulder problem.

Bird went under the knife six weeks after Cronulla were eliminated from the finals, prompting Bennett to lash the Sharks for telling the Blues ace he did not require an operation.

There was already bad blood between the clubs after Cronulla flouted NRL guidelines in April by announcing Bird would be quitting the club following his signing with the Broncos.

“I’m really disappointed in the handling of Jack,” Bennett said.

“We didn’t get any information from the Sharks (about Bird’s injury), we got it from Jack.

“Jack knew he had a problem with his shoulder and it wasn’t going away. They assured Jack there wasn’t a problem.

“He brought up some scans, the pictures were pretty hard to see. The scans were not of high quality, so we got him re-scanned and it clearly showed up that he needed surgery.

“We all have a duty of care to our players, regardless of whether they are moving on. Their contracts don’t expire until October 31 and until that date, regardless of whether they are staying or going, you have a duty of care to them.”

Bird carried his shoulder injury into the Australian PM’s XIII clash against Papua New Guinea on September 23, 13 days after Cronulla’s season-ending 15-14 loss to the Cowboys.

Bennett said Bird’s ailment was similar to that of Broncos pivot Anthony Milford, who dislocated his shoulder against Souths in round 14. He will return from surgery a month before the former Sharks centre is scheduled to be fit.

“We have lost a lot of time which is unsatisfactory,” Bennett said.

“If this had all been diagnosed and sorted out correctly, Jack would have been right to start the season.
“Our staff followed it up when he complained about it still being sore.

“He was in the same category as Milford. We kept playing Anthony as well and knew the risks, but we also knew he needed surgery as soon as the season ended.

“Jack’s season at Cronulla finished two weeks before Anthony Milford’s but yet he is at least a month behind Anthony.

“Opportunities have been missed. We’re now a long way behind with Jack’s rehabilitation.”

Still a little butthurt over 97, aye Cronulla Riots? Next time we deliver you a Ben Barba level player at 100% fitness, he'll be going straight up your ass.

The more I look at that photo the more I think of Paulie from Fat Pizza etc

You wouldn’t expect anything less from that stain of a club though, I guess.
It's a bit short sighted by the sharks. What player with a few brain cells will want to go there now after their treatment of the 2 players who were among the most critical in bringing them their first and only premiership after 50 years? Ennis retired with no post game deal from the sharks I believe also (the other player who helped bring it), with Maloney now getting shafted, and bird got lied to about an injury. Lewis is the only one who is still there who I would say they couldn't have won it without

“Jack knew he had a problem with his shoulder and it wasn’t going away. They assured Jack there wasn’t a problem."

So they lied to him about the extent of his injury? Surely that's serious?

If this can be proven and bird wants to take it further that could seriously call in to question the ethical practice of the doctor and/or radiologist. The problem is it'd be very hard to prove that it was anything more then poor judgement on the specialists behalf

If the injury was the same extent as Milford's, then it would have been clear even to a rookie doctor that surgery was required.

I think it would be easy enough to prove in court.

Prove enough to have his license revoked, anyway.
