Jack Reed

The whole "Copley got a lot of line-breaks last year, with Hoffman!" argument doesn't really work in this case, Reed has been getting ample line-breaks this year and has set up countless of scoring opportunities for his inside and outside men with clever passes and short kicks.

He's clearly the best option at the moment, until either Dale is playing so good that he forces his way in, or Reed goes back to Griffinball form.

Most of Reed's good work this season came off his willingness to pass the ball. Copley is a bit of a hog though.

hahahahah I am sorry boy but this is a fucking useless thread. How long have you been watching Rugby League for, it is a team sport boy with positions designed to complement each other. As soon as one position starts to crumble the whole team will start to underperform. It takes a team to lose in the great game and a team to win. To single out Reed is a simple man's game. Kahu, Copeley,Renouf or Tate for example would not of saved us from the loss we had last night. We did not play like the team that has been taking the field for 79% of the season so far and lost accordingly to team who came to play together. Now back to class with you for some English lessons.
You need a few lessons as well by the looks of it... it's "would not have saved".

Having said that, enough of the grammar and spelling nazis!

Stay on topic and discuss the opinion, not the poster!

did we really need another Reed thread ... but since we have one, i'll say this.

Reed has done well in over the last 2 months (after 2 years of utter shit).

However, IMO, if Copley had been given the same opportunity that Reed was given to turn his form around (in his preferred position of center) then he would have IMO, been a far more damaging center in both attack and defence than what we have now in Reed.

Both Reed and Copley were average at the start of the year. Reed's average (and that's being kind) form lasted a lot longer than Copleys, as Copley was our leading try scorer last year.

IMO, Copley also has a much higher ceiling than Reed does.

There isn't much the selectors can do about injuries.

Copley's been unlucky in that regard.

Reed has been playing well. Why pick a scapegoat when the whole team didnt really turn up.

Losing to Manly may induce agenda driven scapegoating.

Please ask your healthcare professional for more information.

Lets face it, we all just really wanted the satisfaction of ending Manly's season and they did us instead. It would really shit anyone off.

The truth is Reed is playing better than Copley at the moment and will continue to be picked ahead of Dale. Dale has to remain healthy and put in some good consistent performances to even have a chance of pushing Jack Reed out.

Your last point is an interesting one. But I don't think anyone would disagree if you said that Jack Reed is just about playing to his full potential (which is enough to keep Dale Copley back in ISC). I don't think we've seen the best of Dale Copley yet so how much heigher his ceiling is remains to be see. Dale Copley is doing a good job for Norths when he's fit but it still isn't at Jack Reed's level in first grade. If he really wants to be picked ahead of Jack then he needs to at least perform at the same level (as Reed) in ISC.

In reality if someone has a problem with team selections this year, its because of personal preference or an agenda rather than a glaringly obvious wrong decision by the coach. From round 1 wayne has picked the best 17 in their best position. Maybe there were a few poor performances by a few along the way, but those players have since found themselves sidelined.

In wayne we trust... Well at least i do anyway.

Where was this post 5 weeks ago? Oh that's right, 5 weeks ago you had nothing to say because Reed was playing good and we were winning. The fact is that our whole entire team was outplayed on Saturday night and to blame it on one person is just laughable. Cant believe the knives are coming out after one game. If he played like he did on Saturday for 10 weeks straight then maybe you would have a leg to stand on to get him replaced by someone else.

The knives are not out after one loss. Through us winning I have noticed that reed is only good coz Milford is good. Reed is not good coz he's actually good. Fa **** sake.

Yeah but that's not true. Reed is good if he gets decent ball from his half... Like any fucking centre in the fuvking comp. Jesus fucking Christ

We have Justin Hodges in our side, he is used to our centres going after their own ball

I think it was also a case that Manly turned up with a game plan to rattle us - which they did rather - it was an onslaught, and rather than us not turning up, we were just shell shocked and lost all composure and perspective - Reed included.

If only we had a leader and organizer like Locky, I think the result would have been a lot closer.
