Jake Turpin re-signs until the end of 2022

He should play a similar role to fensom. ISC but will be there if needed, provides a good example at training and keeping the young ones honest.

The only problem is he will still be on a starter's salary next year and the year after if he takes up his player option for 2021 as well.

Doesn’t matter, the team will be playing better and if he still wants to start he has the option to head elsewhere.

I think it's a good deal, because I don't believe he has had enough time to show us if he is our future 9 yet . Not his fault because he was pushed into the halves, but I'm not convinced yet.
Not totally convinced either but he is a tough little bugger and constantly puts his small frame on the line and to good effect. The Broncos of 2019 would be a **** of a lot worse without him. Certainly not star material but could become a reliable #9 in the future.

The Player option is likely due to him being on a Low Wage deal, probably promised a bump up in wages and if not he will be allowed to leave.

If he is on good money for the whole contract then that is a Poor Deal for the club even though we needed Turpin.

Good signing. On the contrary, I strongly hope Macca (along with Boyd) do have an honest heart to heart discussion in the off season and decide to bid farewell to the club in all parties best interests.

Andrew for mine, is giving his best but sadly, his best hasn’t been suiting us for over 2 years now. It’s better for him to step aside than hindering our progress.

As to Boyd- he must be mandated that left center is the position that we can offer him next season but has to perform there week in week out. If not, his bags must be packed and thrown out. Loyalty has to stop & the best interests of team along with fans must be given utmost priority from next season.

I’m happy with him playing centre but then Bird has to go, Staggs does not lose his spot.

Paix will hopefully deliver for us at 9, but it will be good to have the stop gap filled til that happens. Let him run around in the 14 if Seggy doesn't stick around.

What i do see as a positive with our re-signings is that we have not lost players we wanted the keep (oh, resign fifita now!). Which i guess means players are happy, wanting to buy in with what seibs is looking to create and can see that the club will be successful in the future. . . . Or we are paying "overs"

I'd say he's the handiest utility we've had since Berrigan, and probably pips Berrigan at the same time in their respective careers. Not sure whether he should start though. I'd like to see Segy given a decent go at 9.

The fact we have two younger (3 if you count Paix) hookers signed for next year must suggest to Macca that his jacket is on a shoogly peg.

I know he loves the club and he's well liked, he'd be even more liked if he stepped aside into ISC to nurture up and coming juniors for us.

He may have pipped Berro at the same stage (that's debatable) but that's where the comparisons end. He'll have to score 20 tries in a season as a centre and play HB at Origin for the comparisons to realistically continue.

yeh spot on...Berrigans is the MVP of Broncos utility players. Now do i think Turps has a chance of emulating him...possibly.....more likely not though cause Shaun was simply one of a kind player.

Delighted for Turps and the club this has been sorted...i can see already most fellow members here are also very happy and given the season we're having ill take any silver lining...

Got a question for everyone; What does everyone think if Fifita is signed to something similar..?

In regards to Fifi we literally just need to get him through to the end of 2021... at that point Boyd, Macca, Gillett, Bird and even milf will be off contract. It will give us a chance to step back and reset the roster.

It's also only a 1 year extension to Fifi to get him to 2021 at which point he can get a bump in his salary.

Preferably I would like to see him extend for 3 years (2023), but he has to wonder if he wants to lock himself down at his current value given the chance it goes up in the very near future.

His current contract could see him as a starting 2nd row next year (and available to sign with anyone at anytime) with a value skyrocketing and us having to find money in the 2021 cap whilst wearing bad contracts.

1 year extension probably sees him as a full time starter for a couple years at which point his value could skyrocket, but with a number of bad contracts coming to an end we can reallocate those funds to Fifi.

It's very likely his value will continue to go up which is why he is a priority re-signing right now.

We are all hoping Macca will leave next year but it’s not going to happen he’s already taken his extra year up.

as he is entitled too....still...pretty sure the serious talk with him and Boyd will happen after Mad Monday and pretty sure theres a chance neither will like the outcome of those talks either...
