Didn't see much of Tighe last year, but before that I recall that he was horrible defensively. Something the Titans really don't need.

One could only imagine that they're signing someone better than Tighe.. losing Idris will free up a lot of cash under the cap, I'd say K.Hunt to the Titans may be a real possibility, if not for 2014, then definitely for 2015.

It kind of depends how much they spent on Maurice Blair. I wouldn't think it would be much, but it would have to be enough to wrestle him away from the Storm, so who knows. Depending on how the Blair thing goes (court case), they might have cause to terminate his contract and really chase a premier centre.

Panthers look good next year despite their halves. But Canberra could learn a lesson in how clubs manage business from the Dogs and Titans. Haha

Tough blow for the Titans but it wasn't even 12 months ago that Idris was a walking punch line, long term they should be able to manage.

absolutely, and as much as he did start to turn things around last season, he's still underachieving enormously imo. A guy with his size and skill should be tearing Rugby League apart. But he's still just a big puppy dog.

Titans didn't have to let him go but they did. Obviously they're a little tired of waiting for Jamal Idris to happen and paying him a small fortune while they wait.

A big blow for the Titans Jamal was providing the x-factor for them and there decline in fortunes last year coincided with him being out injured, he was really showing some form last year as well. He has a fair reason to leave as he wants to be closer to his sick mother and being closer to her helps not just him but his family as well.

Very good signing by Penrith more proof they are heading in the right direction.

Oh, and he was granted a release on "compassionate grounds" to be closer to his family. If the media don't give the Panthers the same **** they've given us, they're damn hypocrites.

Nah mate there wasn't even a media build up to it, hell if you look on general league forums all you see is how great it so for the Panthers completely forgetting the holier then attitude they have taken prior to that and on talking sport they pretty much only mentioned it twice didn't even lead into a discussion(not surprising though, these same blokes tried to have a dig at Sam Thaiday in an interview supposed to be about his time in the world cup).

If they use the Idris money to secure a good fullback and draft in a serviceable centre, they'll be better in the long run.

Fair point Big Pete, it could be a blessing in disguise, though its a shame they let Hymel Hunt go to the storm so easily, he would have definitely been worth a punt on.
