James Roberts Drama

How do you know he was only yelling?

Because that's all that has been reported. On top of hat no police charges have been laid and I can be fairly confident that if it was physical people would be laying charges.

I want him at least stood down at the very least. I personally think he should be gone, he is ruining the culture we had last year and we would be better off without someone with his professional standard.

So according to Badel on NRL360:

- He was refused service.
- He 'verbally attacked' AKA yelled at a barmaid
- Bouncer put him in a choke hold.

Outrageous.

Based on the facts that have come out so far I couldn't give a ****. I don't think some people realise how easy it is to be thrown out of shitholes like the Normanby. I am the least aggressive or threatening person I know and I have been forcibly thrown of that shithole twice. I got told I had had enough and all I said was "what? I've only had 3 beers" and the next minute this fat **** of a bouncer is all over me.

If there is more to this than has been released then fair enough, otherwise just start scoring some tries Jimmy.
Exactly, I don't think we'll here too much more about it... Come Friday morning the media would have found another scandal to blow out

you forgot that he also refused to leave the venue when asked. while the crowd controller certainly can't put him a choke hold (as i said before that is illegal even for police in this state). once Roberts refused to leave the crowd controllers then have a legal right to remove him from the premises, physically if necessary.

Unconscious if necessary?

as i've said a choker hold is illegal, and certainly not the reasonable force allowed under QLD law... but i'm not even sure that happened, because if it did the police surely would be taking action against the crowd controller.

If it were as big of a deal as it has been made out wouldn't there be footage of it by now? Doesn't everyone have a camera phone these days? The Normanby is packed on Sundays and I cant believe not one entrepreneurial individual has taken this unique oppurtunity to make a few bucks.

I think you said it best..
Furthermore, just because it occurs 'every weekend' doesn't make it acceptable. High profile personalities need to be more aware of their actions. It's true, they are just like everyday people. The difference is that everyday people don't have every aspect of their life in public eye. The general public still need to be careful because it comes down to the possibility of them losing their job, just like NRL players would.

This is why it's important to have the older, more experienced players at the clubs. The young kids need to be set a good example, which is something we don't see enough.

But FTR - that's still my view...

...as long as the player has actually done something seriously wrong...

...which Roberts hasn't done here...

Some police officers just couldn't give a shit, to be honest.

I've seen bouncers literally knock someone out at an Irish pub on the Northside just for having an argument over being forced out.

Police did absolutely nothing.

Instead charged the bloke that was arguing with the bouncer. He wasn't aggressive, didn't lay a hand on the bouncer, then bang. He was out cold.

Police didn't charge the bouncer.. But he ended up regretting it.

The thing that concerns me about this is that it doesn't say whether he was out on his own or not ?

Don't the boys normally go out in groups, or at least with one other teammate?

If he was with somebody that cared about him, he might not have ended up in this situation

Even more concerning if he wasn't drinking on his own I think.
