I don't like it simply because he was drinking the night before training. Granted it was only 9pm but at this point of the season, and the situation the team is in, I'd like to think that less than 12 hours before training he'd act a bit more committed.

I'm wondering if there is something else going on.

I know he had a sick kid, but he said his kid was all good. It was just a viral infection and he got better.

Or maybe there is a deeper issue.

All the talk from him in the off-season suggested he had turned his life around and now he is back to getting in trouble again.

Never understood why fans of a club attack the media for publishing these stories.Because it's a Broncos player we don't believe the story, if it was someone from a Sydney club we'd be saying what a terrible human being they are.

A few quick thoughts:

Remember someone is innocent till proven guilty. That said, he has been bounced by two clubs already so this doesn't sound like virgin terrain for him.

If he was drinking and was an absolute mess on a Sunday night, there is a significant problem. Compound that with a season that he has been substandard and you got to question if he is a good fit for the side.

One of the reasons that the Broncos this year don't match last years was the replacement of Hodges for Roberts. Many will moan and groan about him not getting enough ball... do you think Hodges would ever not demand it and go after it? Nope. Also, Parker isn't much chop as a leader but that's a different story.

Wow, some people just love getting the knives out.
Alcoholism is a fucking curse. I can tell you from experience that it is fucking hard to stay on top of. Its destroyed the lives of some of the most successful, remarkable & influential people in history.
Yes, he's a professional athlete. Yes, he represents one of the most respected clubs in the game. Yes, he's a role model that many kids look up to.
&
He is human! & a young man living in an alcohol fueled society.
I'm not condoning his actions, pissed on a Sunday night is not acceptable behavior for someone in his position. I support the idea that he needs to be punished & or moved on. I also think that what he needs most, is help.
Calling him a "**** wit" helps no one. It just shows some people have no idea what living with addiction is like.

Doesn't the guy live on the Gold Coast, he had to be with others. Isn't the Normanby a Broncos sponsor? He could have been invited there, fed drinks at a function, and decided to kick on.

Anyways, I'd be disappointed if he was sacked, personally if it is an issue I'd rather see a player get the support they need rather than cut loose. I'd be equally disappointed in the Bronco's if they didn't offer such support. We have players in the side right now who have had various issues along the journey and have overcome them, its those who need to rally behind Jimmy.

PS - I'd say this for any player, whether I liked them or not. Being a one club town, I also think things do get made bigger than they are.
