Poor man's Barba they say. Barba was once a poor man's Bowen.
I don't give a rat's ass if he's playing poorly in QLD Cup, the bloke has more talent than any of our backs except Hodges.
He just needs a chance FFS!
Maybe Bond should smile more.. maybe then the coach would see him :glare:

True. I mean Queensland cup is clearly the more superior comp so it wouldn't matter that he is playing poorly there because the bar is well and truly lowered in the NRL.

FWIW my source tells me DCE is trying so hard to get out of manly and join us. He feels that if he can get a start for the broncos and really impress he may have some hope of getting a bench spot for reddy or norths.

Tell your sauce to get back into the bottle. That was dribble

That's a big call when you are the one calling for the inclusion of a player that's been struggling at Q cup level. At least my comment was intended as a joke

Redcliffe as a team have been playing shit. Even if he dominated you still wouldn't want him in the team. "he dominated QLD CUP, OH WOW!!"
Well.. he did dominate last year taking out the Peter Leis medal

primo username pickup there, Broncos.

I love the 'his qld cup form is terrible' excuse for not giving them a go.

It's not like the first grade squad are playing the house down.:001_rolleyes:

so your saying that even though they are playing terribly in a far inferior comp to the NRL, they will all of a sudden turn their form around in the toughest rugby league comp in the world. :001_rolleyes:

Yeah foordy I have already tried to get my head around this line of thinking too mate... It's best to just not think about it

so he has been playing poorly in q cup? why would the broncos pick him then? hmmm. probably shouldnt ask.

Yeah, bizarre argument. First graders are playing crap, so let's replace them with reserve graders playing crap...

But this is the problem. Not only are our first graders poor, our reserves are poor. No wonder we're struggling and out of ideas!

While I don't agree with Bond being picked, your logic is flawed- Matai couldn't make the Jets Qld Cup side and played FOGS and Reed was struggling at Souths in FOGS. Gillett couldn't crack Qld Cup for a while.

All have gone pretty well when playing NRL.

Scored the match winner on the weekend, running off a long break from a fellow Broncos contracted player - Cam Cullen.

I'd give him a shot. Let's not forget Kahu's form wasn't anything to write home about earlier in the season and he turned out to be an improvement.

I know it's a case by case situation but you never know until you give them a go. Right now, with two backrows in our backline, I'd much rather bring in a natural back than play players outside of their comfort zone.

For me Coxy, it's more about lack of opportunities for the up and comers. Yes, they may not be in the best form, but we have players in the first grade side closing in on 50 even 100 first grade games that aren't showing much. What have we got to lose by giving them a go? At the very least the established players will learn not to take their spot for granted. It could help both groups improve.
